Is it bad that I think these are completely and totally overrated films.

No, they are overrated, which is why my hype died down quickly.
But I did get hyped real high and well, though, so...
[If it helps, treat the MCU as a weekly TV series that’s been on for like 20 years and is just something you vaguely follow. Me I watch some eye-catching ones like Black Panther in theaters but the rest I just stream every once in a while but almost always in order of release twice a week at times. I wouldn’t say “Lower your expectations”, because baseline the movies themselves are good to great, and absolutely entertaining, but don’t exhaust yourself by following the thing and buying merchandise. You’re watching an episodic serial masquerading as a movie franchise; treat it as such. Makes life easier.]

You know what’s weird? This would’ve been unthinkable a long time ago. Then again, most thing now are unthinkable before, but an episodic franchise like this used to be an impossibility, like spacefaring before WW2.
We’re now seeing the culmination of the biggest project in the history of man-made visual entertainment.

How many times have they destroyed New York City?
I have trouble believing how quickly it has been rebuilt each time.

I’m not feeling the hype. I like the character spin off movies much better than the Avengers conglomerates. Much like the last DC movie, where it was batman, superman, wonder woman, I much prefer the stand alone character movies than when they are all together. Too much super for me.

How many times have they destroyed New York City?
Before this, once, I think. Winter Soldier and Spider-Man were further out but still in the state, the rest are either in other countries or out in the far reaches of space.

Different tastes, I guess. That said, this one I’m genuinely interested to see as a unit, at the least just to see all sorts of interplay between them, how their powers can meld together.
Also, just think of this as a big online PvE co-op campaign. Here’s your big boss, your campaign list, now go do ‘em.
Which reminds me...we need an honest-to-goodness JRPG-like Avengers game.

There’s a remarkable sameness between all the movies. 30 minutes into Black Panther, I knew exactly how it was going to end, which really was a disappointment to me. I’ve watched probably 5 out of the 20 or so and I’m just not interested in the characters and the really generic stories. And I watched those because my friends are super addicted and I just can’t understand it.

You know the final battle will be epic and when all is seemingly lost Chris Prat will save the day by doing a dumb dance to an 80's hit song playing on a Walkman for Thanos.
Other take aways: Hulk in an iron man suit-hell yes, Star Lord back on earth-hell yes, teenager Groot-hell yes, Dr. Strange in full combat mode-hell yes, Capt and Bucky in full buddy mode-hell yes.
Dang it now I’m all psyched.

It’s more “Don’t be a curmudgeon” about it. I see your perspective but I advocate for balance. Stand in awe and clap your hands, but request to see the manager too, in a calm and orderly fashion, so to speak.
That’s how I learned to combat Marvel fatigue and just take the movies in stride. It’ll be there, and I can freely watch other films in the meantime.
You come home, want a break from the news, so you flip to HBO, happens to have a Capt. America movie, keep it on while doing chores or preparing supper.
The only heroes I ever invested a non-trivial amount of time poring over are Black Panther and Ant-Man, the former because damn that guy must be amazing and the latter because his powers are dope and the one I like the most if I can’t have shapeshifting (the greatest kind of comic-book power IMO). The rest are regular shonen-y stuff I can leave in the background.

It won’t be the last boss if it makes money. The final boss is always a money loser.
