I think the Dart looked good, but had the unfortunate nature of being an FCA product. The prices are starting to drop, but I don’t know if it’ll ever drop to a point where it’s considered a nice price.

Sad!
I enjoyed mine in Horizon 3.

It’s not a bad car at all, it just doesn’t stand out against all the competition enough.

Im kind of sad this never came to fruition: https://www.google.com/amp/s/jalopnik.com/the-dodge-dart-srt-will-be-a-turbo-awd-wrx-fighter-1572339997/amp

Yeah, I wonder if they ever worked on it, or if it was just a Mergio fever dream addition.

And as I recall, I could never find lease options when checking them out online, only finance options. I thought it cost more than the competition, too.

Just buy it ... I think those cars got a bad rap for some reason I’m still not sure of - will have to do my part though and Turo one, so I know whereof I speak.

Oh, I’m not at a point where I’m buying (yet), but I don’t think I’d seriously consider one, if I could even one.

I like mine

These were terrible cars all around. Modern Neon and mostly sold to people with bad credit, so nobody takes care of them on top of the initial poor build quality.
Basically, you can’t win with this car. Let it go. Everyone else makes a better compact, just get one of those instead.

Free not cheap enough for you
Give it another decade or two for that price point to become reality

My sister in law bought one new quite a while ago, some dealer was running a $10k OTD sale price on them, and they needed a little runabout car. As far as I know it’s been trouble free. She doesn’t love the car, but it’s been reliable.

A pretty nice car, but compact sedans are a losing proposition, especially today. Being the best in a dying breed is best left to others.
Like the dodo bird or the Honda Accord.

Everyone I know who ownes one of these (which is actually quite a few people) loves theirs. I’d drive a 2.4 GT and would’ve seriously considered one if any of the dealers in my network I work for had one when I was buying.

So few of them looked as good as the one pictured. I considered one because I had a Neon but the appearance of Dodge’s infotainment screen setup on those is such a weird form factor. It looks all wrong.

Actually, some of the FCA dealers still have new 2015s, at least on their websites. They also have leftover new 200s.

Do you know the Dart interior won a Ward’s Top Ten Best Interiors award? If I were buying a small car, my top two would probably be this and the Mazda 3, and it would probably come down to best value I could get. These cars are a great value.

I hope the GT got a better shifter, and clutch than the base model. I drove a base model with a manual trans once, and it was the most numb clutch pedal, and mushiest(scientific term) shifter I’ve ever used. Also the plastic on the knob was so cheap it reminded me of the helmet on my old Buzz Lightyear action figure.

I had an early build GT 6MT. It was nightmarishly unreliable and I have written about it on here a few times. -150/10 do not recommend.

All they needed to do was build an SRT-4, and they failed...

People saw FCA and automatically called it shit without actually ever so much as seeing one?
I agree BTW, they got a bad rap for no reason.

It’s more comfortable, better handling, and more fun to drive than it’s competition. It’s competition were cars like the Corolla, Forte, Civic, etc. It was cheaper than all of them, base to base. It was barely more expensive ($100 IIRC) than the Corolla S in top trim, but offered a far superior car.

Supposedly they were working on it until Ford released the RS, and it was either a convenient excuse, or they figured the market would be saturated enough that they couldn’t make money on it. Or they figured they’d be canceling it anyway and didn’t want to spend any more money on it.

My only experience with a Dart was when I had one as a loaner for three days. When I picked it up, everything was normal. Car had about 20,000 miles. By day three of normal driving it developed a weird rattle from the engine bay. They’re junk. Good looking junk, but junk nonetheless.

They are good cars just get the 2.4L, the 1.4L seems to eat turbos. They never really took off because compared the competition they are heavy so they didn’t get amazing mileage and were a bit slow. When I worked for FCA I got to take some of the pre-production cars on a roadtrip from Detroit to Tallahassee. I think we were only on the highway for 100 miles and the rest was back roads, including some small canyons which we took full advantage of.

I always wanted to see a SRT-4 reboot to face off the ST focus.

These cars were underperformers in acceleration and probably fuel economy as well, but that’s not why the Dart flopped. It flopped because Chrysler has not been competitive in this segment in ages, and it did not produce a class-leading product to get people’s attention.
Just like the “new” 200. Not an objectively terrible car, but it failed to disrupt the segment. Also, it was too small.

Still, bet you could get a great deal on one off a lease - value probably falls off a cliff.

I think I’m the only Oppo/Jalop that’s had one of the new Darts AND an Accord Crosstour.
I loved my Dart, but the oil-cooler failed and caused the engine to blow. Fucking FCA couldn’t yank a 2.4 that was going to a Cherokee or something and put it in my car. They ended up buying my car back.
