I swear those guys target my driveway. Save up extra snow and just dump it all in the end of my driveway.

trick is to catch it right away. Shovel/snowblow that crap out as soon as possible. if you don’t, it turns to granite and you need an underground nuclear explosion to break it up

I was out there because they had just gone the other way and was prepared to move it out. I miss my snow blower so much.

I have never - ever lived in anyplace where it snows more than a day. But I have always wondered, is there something like a heated driveway?

The worst is when the snow is wet and slushy when they plow it and then freezes overnight.

When it’s a salt snow slurry and the liquid and salt leach out leaving an ice mountain.

snow blower works pretty darn well. Don’t really need the heated driveway but it would be nice.

a lot of places like hospitals have heated sidewalks.

My office has a heated front sidewalk. It keeps the front sidewalk somewhere around 40F or so, just enough to melt the snow that falls and keep ice from forming. Of course, the parking lot is only a few feet away, but it makes for a nice place to kick the snow off your shoes before entering the building.
The entrance that us peons get to use has regular unheated concrete.

It doesn’t seem like a good idea to me.
Nor does it seem like an affordable one. In places where a typical snow storm is less than an inch, they might make sense. The energy to melt 2 feet of snow fall is going to add up.

Yes, but it’s not effective enough to clear a proper snowfall in a timely manner. A heated driveway is more suited for an inch or less, or getting rid of ice

You sound like the kind of person I don’t want as a neighbor.
