I usually have the voice turned off but I had my torque pro app running and I needed to hear the turns.
Today I noticed it does something totally wrong - it uses cardinal coordinates AND Left/Right. example: “head north, then turn left.” Don’t you mean, head north then turn west? Oh THE SCANDAL! I know. But hear me out, yes it’s wrong and a little strange but its not that actually...wrong, per-se. Like the word embiggen, which is both totally made up and totally a word, mixing systems is both not a thing and 100% the thing people do. I wouldn’t give someone directions only in cardinal coordinate form unless it wasn’t a road (trail, etc). It’s just interesting to me that they are working hard to understand how to interact with people naturally and not just technically correct.

Relative directions are like opinions..
My kids new game is watching the cardinal directions on the navigation screen and the display on the compass mirror - they get a point each time they don’t agree with each other..

thats a good game. My daughters were playing with their crappy compasses in the car the other day. My oldest is enjoying the novelty of watching it change directions...I need to get her a real one.

I’m not sure I see the problem here. Head north, then turn left is exactly the same to me as head north then turn left. You’re just missing a slight pause from the , but still going the same way

because it should be head north turn west, its not about the “then”

I started explaining the differences between a compass and gps and their different data sources.. but then they decided to tell me they just don’t like each other and don’t always agree.
