A sitting greyhound is actually very rare because their bodies are weird.. No one I know has ever seen it before.
They’re weird and shed a lot but danget they are cute.

Yes, hi, there are two giraffes in your house.
Just a heads up.
God they’re huge doggos.

Gibbs is 77 lbs and Cotton is 62lbs. They just stand really tall which freaks people out who don’t like big dogs.

I love the breed. Too fragile for me though. I’m used to rough and tumble dogs. When Athena was young she didn’t believe in going around things. She either jumped over them or ran into them so the object (couch, chair, etc) would move out of her way. Had a client with a greyhound that broke its back after tripping while running.

Gibbs had a toe amputated at his prior home after running into he other greyhound he was housed with. She broke a leg. We have not had to much trouble with them though.

He gets very annoyed with her. She head butts him so she gets pets, tries to steal food, and is just a young dog over all. He does seem to have more spunk since we got her though. Hes almost 9 and shes 3 and a half.

I had never realized till just now that I hadn’t seen a greyhound sit. It just looks strange and uncomfortable. I completely understand why it’s a rare sight.

She is literally the only greyhound I have seen do it. She figured out how to angle the hind just right apparently.

Having one was cool but having 2 is the answer. The way they interact cracks me up all the time. Longbois unite!

I’m still hoping my parents get my little Bonnie a bud. They want to get a Scottie which we’ve never had before.

exactly - we had one for a while, and i finally acquiesced in getting a second. Bema (black) is original dog, around 4 years old now. She’s the typical shy greyhound (except with the doorbell and certain people - that chest cavity is quite the resonant chamber for barking). Rocky (tan) is new guy, about 1.5 years. He’s very sociable- wants to say hi to other dogs and people, etc. Generally well behaved, although he did do in one of our chickens.

Both ours have a very low prey drive which was a requirement as my parents have 3 small dogs and 3 cats running around. Gibbs has only barked 9 times since I got him nearly 2 years ago. Cotton though... She talks back like a teenager, she yawns loud, barks, the hole bit. It makes her really cute though.

I’ve never met one I didn’t like. They’re awesome dogs. I’ve met a few rescues that were shy but most are goofy and loving.

They almost all tend to be shy but will open up eventually.

The best one I’ve known was the one that broke his back. He was the only one I’ve known that wasn’t a rescue. But he nearly knocked me out one day trying to leash him up. Bent down and he bopped me in the nose jumping up.

They are built a lot like standard poodles. 90% leg.

Exactly. The problem with the greyhound vs the Standard poodle is the greyhounds are way more awkward because they can’t bend their legs as much. They look ridiculous when in any position but standing

They are both bizarre breeds. Do you have a lot of space for you longbois to run? I’ve never had one but I hear they are very energetic.

Not at all. We live in a townhouse so we take them for walks around the block 2-3 times a day and occasional a baseball field when no one is around. They are laaaaazy.
