How is this possible? Where did it come from? Why did ICBC insure and register it? Also, where can I buy/import one?
Skoda Yeti. Legit.

Yeti!!! My guess, either a diplomat, or a Canadian Forces member - I think they are allowed to bring cars back from overseas. I don’t have a pic, but several years ago, my friend and I saw a Euro-spec 8th-gen Honda Civic hatchback on the highway here in Nova Scotia with Nova Scotia plates...our guess at the time was a Canadian Forces member, but we never saw it again, so not sure!

When I lived in San Diego (large military presence), we would see cars with EU plated EU-Spec cars parked next to Renaults from just across the border in Mexico. It was awesome.

Purchased off a foreign embassy/official working in Canada and slipped through the cracks?

Could be a forces member. Diplomatic cars in BC have red plates.
What bothers me is I know a lot about registration/insurance in BC. And yet here we are.

There generally are no cracks. ICBC is pretty on their game.

Pre-facelift (pre-2015) Skoda Yeti.
No longer available and replaced with the Karoq.

I like the Yeti better.

The Pre-facelift was a bit more quirky looking than the later one.
None are to my liking but I may go for the Kodiaq next year.

I quite like the pre-facelift one, but I like quirky design and designs that dare to be different. :)

Woah
That’s awesome!

I’ve seen it too!
The only legal ways to register it here are to either buy it from a diplomat, or to move here from a foreign country and bring it as a personal effect.
I’ve seen a handful of otherwise-not-legal cars around here with normal plates, like a Renault Espace, Lancia Delta (the new one, 2008+), and Nissan Navara.

Was the Nissan Navara red?
I saw one and thought I was crazy

Yes, it was! Red w/ a white canopy and Mexican dealer badge.
