They’re really good when they’re fresh. And when I say fresh, I don’t mean ten minutes ago, I mean you watch it come off of the line and you’re eating it 30 seconds later.

Krispy Kremes are the only plain, glazed donuts I’ve found that I like, but only warm and fresh. Any of their other varieties are underwhelming.

Fuck you, Krispy Kreme is the best chain donut.
Obviously the superior donuts are local bakery style or from Publix but for a national chain, you can’t beat KK.

QT has surprisingly good donuts.
I don’t understand why every bakery in the south feels donuts must be glazed.

I guess it’s just become a bit of a tradition.
For a while I thought donuts had to be glazed until I tried a non-glazed and was surprised how good it is. I still like a good glazed donut, though. My favorite donut has to be chocolate creme/custard filled, but that’s just because I’m fat.

I’ll eat one if a box shows up in the office, but they don’t stand a chance against LaMar’s (KC-based regional chain famous for
besting KK in a police officer taste test
) or a handful of other local bakeries.

There is a Krispy Kreme franchise section in a local supermarket and I’ve tried most of them and they really aren’t anything special. They are better than some of the bought in stores own ones but they are three times the price for one than they are for five.

Agreed. Really good when less than 5 minutes old. Otherwise just another glazed donut. If you’re ever in Springfield MO and ready for a diabetic coma, try these: http://www.wannahurts.com/
Some of their concoctions are really good. Others, not so much. But if you are a child of the 80’s, you gotta try Hurts Donuts. :)

Still the best national donut chain by a large margin.
Dunkin tastes like grabbing a slice of bread and crushing it in my hand.

Your math may be flawed. If Dunkin is a zero, which is what I’d rate it, then 100 times that is still zero and even though lousy and boring, is probably greater than zero...
But I agree: Dunkin is lame.

Voodoo donuts is the big draw there. Unique, but expensive and hyped. The lines can also be hilarious during tourist season.
Portland is pretty on sunny days and can be fun to visit if you are into hipster spotting, otherwise, I only make it down there every couple years. If it’s a wannabe, it is torn between Seattle and Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
