When I was 16 years old I had minor surgery that left me stuck in bed for a week more or less unable to do anything. I had a huge desire for a Porsche 914 after seeing one for sale for $500 (only needs a new fuel line — runs great!) which my mother wisely refused to loan me.
Anyway I had a bunch of magazines and parts catalogs and nothing but time so I figured out that it was possible to built an entire 914 out of all aftermarket parts.
Never thought anyone would actually build a Porsche and not use any Porsche parts but didn’t see Ruf coming along either.

Interesting. By now you can also assemble early Mustangs, Camaros, and some other Chevys, with non factory parts, but that’s nothing new.
