The community service cop was driving around, I saw him turn around over in front of me. I was waiting for my wife to come out so I could take her to the bus to SF, I always warm the engine up for ten minutes with the older cars when I do this. So they turn around, I guess they read my plate out and then dispatch said it wasn’t registered. So he comes back and comes over to me, I said I live right there, pointing, and that there is nothing wrong with my registration. I gave it to him, then he says dispatch must have typed it in wrong. Thanks for the morning bullshit you incompetent morons! Oh and someone visiting from NV with that 2002. It’s not fully red or orange I think, similar to the JDM Nissan persimmon color that some S30s had in Japan.

I just realized the 2002 is one of those “is it coming or going” cars based on the shape of it. Especially since it has rear quarter glass for smokers windows.

Yeah they are pretty symmetrical and the continuous trim around it really ties it all together.

Googling Paul Blart, ok I see, yeah this is Marin and the cops are not dealing with too much around here. Maybe a year ago two guys geared up like they were taking Fallujah pulled me over for coasting through a stop sign (which you have to do because the view of traffic is blocked there). At that time I asked them if either of them had been in the military, I said I was a Marine, then I said they looked ridiculous.

We need more Marines calling out the ridiculous over-weaponization (aka. “playing urban war”) of the police force. So, thank you!

No not really, just incompetence, if they had just been able to type in a plate correctly none of it would have happened. Besides I see the guy all the time, he never noticed a dark blue older Mercedes, there aren’t any others in my neighborhood. If he is worth two shits as a cop he would know as much as I do, I know who owns almost every car around here or at least know that the car must belong to someone who lives here because I pass them all the time.

Yeah they really looked silly, they had a molle vests, operator sunglasses, not a normal uniform, it was fun to hear them answer no to my question. Cops other than SWAT should have to wear blues and no military style bullshit, it’s fucking silly and it doesn’t convey a good message to the public. If anything it makes people who are already nervous even more so.

Totally agree. It makes them signal distrust towards the public, instead of ‘we’re in this together and are here to help’.
Loony idea to have the military surplus gear be sold cheaply to local law enforcement. Because “if you have a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail.”

I used to get bothered by neighborhood security in one area I worked in. Same guy. For years. Too dumb to remember me or my clients and not nice enough for me to feel bad about calling him dumb. Always the same thing so I answered his questions before he could ask and then repeated the same ending line to him “yes, I know. People pay a lot of money to live in this community.....”

Yeah we need the old Crown Vic back, in the city SFPD still has some and it does look like SFPD officers wear blues. This community guy has the docile Escape to drive, it was a quiet Saturday morning so no doubt he had nothing to do. But the cruisers are angry looking Dodge sedans and they got some big ass Explorers like the CHP. There should definitely be some laws passed to keep this shit from escalating.

I have two friends that were Marines who did take Falujah. They’re now both cops and dress and act like they’re still running patrols. One of them killed a guy like three months into the job (after being fired by Border Patrol). Fucking terrifying.

Yeah it can take its toll. I was in Afghanistan, I never really enjoyed it so it wouldn’t be tempting for me. I heard on NPR about a guy that wouldn’t shoot a guy holding a gun, because of his experience in the Corp he thought he could be reasoned with. Someone else just burst in the room and shot the guy dead and they fired the veteran who was better at the job. I took the SFPD exam and passed, a friend of our family is a sergeant there and I did a couple ride alongs at night. I realized that a lot of the time they are babysitting scumbags and addicts, I was amazing how many people they know and where they generally hang out, just keeping tabs on them. I just didn’t want to get into it and my wife didn’t want me working with guns anymore. If any crazy thing happens when I’m out somewhere, I’m ready to go and get it, but I went to the hospital twice in the military, had a follow up surgery a couple years ago, and I didn’t think my wife or I wanted to get into that. Everything is escalating these days, the public and the response, you have to ask why that is. There are more people now, increased communication and technology with the internet, games etc... make you think.
