Hello everyone,

As some of you may remember, late last year I purchased a 2015 Nissan Quest from Carvana, the online car buying service. The main reason I chose this vehicle is because at the time it looked like by May I’d most likely be forced to live in a house on wheels until I could get my finances together to buy or rent my own place (my current roommate was supposed to be getting married).

Well, circumstances changed, and we’re staying in our apartment. I’m also now juggling 3 jobs (all of which I enjoy), and I’ve decided that my long term goal is to move to Colorado. The Mustang will be stuck in Florida until I have covered storage for it, and the Quest, with its large size, mediocre fuel economy and awful CVT (which I’ve heard does not like hills/mountains reliability-wise) wouldn’t be suited either. So I traded the Quest.

My experience with Carvana was so great last time that I turned to them first. I found a car that I liked a lot, checked out a similar one in person and then went ahead and bought it!

It’s a 2015 Fiesta SFE! That’s right, the 1.0L 3-cyl turbo model. I love these cars, but I’ve never seen one with the biege interior before, which I vastly prefer over the sea of black in most SFE Fiestas. It only has 12,000 miles, and while I’m definitely taking a depreciation hit on the Quest, I cut my loan down by $4k and will probably get around double the fuel economy.

I’m driving to the Birmingham Vending Machine on the 21st to swap them out - can’t wait! I guess with the Mustang and the Fiesta in the stable, I really am a “Ford guy” now.

Nice! This is also the second Fiesta SFE bought by an Opponaut in the last few weeks.

Wow, I live in Birmingham and had no idea about the vending machine, although I had heard of Carvana for the past few years. Cool concept, I’ll have to look into this for my next go-around.

Apparently the machine is downtown right near my old office. Crazy.

I picked up the Quest in Atlanta, but Birmingham is actually closer for me. The best part about Carvana is that once you decide on the vehicle you want, it genuinely takes 20 minutes to purchase. No enduring BS from dealers and being verbally harassed over a few hundred dollars. The only reason I have to wait until the 21st is because the car is in Arizona and they have to ship it over (at no cost to me)

Literally just saw a billboard for these carvana guys like last night.

Really the only complaint i woulda had about my used car buying experience last week was the time it took.

A cash sale should not take 4 hours. And that was with minimal warrenty waving.

Had i not eaten lunch early beforehand i would of been miserable.

It was fun while it lasted! At least now I can say I’ve owned a big brown van.

It took me 15 minutes to buy the Quest and another 15 to buy the Fiesta, trading in the Quest. The only caveat is that because I financed through carvana the first time they already had my bank info, per diem etc.

The biggest problems I have with the quest are the CVT and the stereo. I realize it’s a base model but I’ve owned many a crap can and they never sounded as bad as the Quest. Besides that its extremely comfortable and I like it’s looks.

That said im counting down the hours until it becomes an actually fun vehicle.
