Good day to all of you lovely people! Happy Thursday and welcome to our weekly Cross Thread which we share across !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . These communities are as diverse as they are fun! Stop by and say hi!

Today is a day where we celebrate womanhood of all shapes and forms. It’s a day where women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. Ladies, never be ashamed of who you are and keep making the world a better place.

As winter comes to a close, blooming flora replaces ice and snow. Children can be heard playing, gorgeous animals out of hibernation, car shows dot the States, and it’s time to do anything we’ve been waiting for warmer weather to do.

For me, Spring and Summer are the best times of the year. My Lake Michigan swim season begins April 30th (those waters are still dangerously cold, be careful) and now that I have a convertible car, I’m going to be topless as much as possible!

I also have this song permanently embedded in my head.

What are Kinja’s plans for the weekend? How’s everyone doing? Anything new? Talk it out in today’s cross thread!!!

I’m celebrating the day by dealing with the stuff at work that jerks expect all teh wimmenz to do. *sigh* Like I need a day for that.

I don’t want to change the clock this weekend. I just managed to get un-habituated from stupid cokes and coffee is too horrendous to even contemplate.

It’s almost Spring! And like clockwork, I’m having garden thoughts. I’m actually planning a vegetable garden in earnest this year. I’m gonna do summer squash, onions, garlic, radishes in my raised bed, and I’m thinking tomatoes, basil, and strawberries in containers on my deck. The hardest part right now is staying small. I could grow ALL THE THINGS.

That sounds like a blast! Mmmmmm I’d love to grow tomatoes and onions...There’s nothing I love more to compliment good food than a delicious tomato and/or onion.

Also, I totally love your avatar.

I’m taking it easy at work, writing up some reports, and dealing with my last few files before I give them to my co-workers next week.

As well, daylight savings is dumb. Although not having it makes the 9 am sunrises pretty rough.

My boss is doing a reading of her first book soon, and so I’ve volunteered myself and my partner as her glam squad! She’s not much of a makeup person and has some anxiety about dressing for a public appearance, but lucky for her I worked as a stylist and GC knows way more about current makeup brands than I do (it’s been years since I’ve freelanced, so I’m better with technique). It’s going to be so fun! Makeover!!

I’ve actually never had a makeover before. That sounds absolutely fun! She’s going to rock that book reading! :)

Thanks! :)

My mom and stepdad garden like crazy, and there’s just nothing like fresh strawberries from the garden. The grocery store can’t hold a candle. Ditto on a fresh vine ripened tomato. I’ve tried to do container gardening in the past, but I didn’t have very good sun then. I have great sun now, it’s happening.

I’ll probably only do green onions, but they grow so fast, you can pull one, drop another seed in the hole, and have a nice continuous supply of green onions all season.

I didn’t have much change to celebrate the day with anyone but I did try to send greetings to one fine lady in Italy.

I like the song with a bit less metal in it.

Ya Spring is just around the corner and its great though its kind of cold today, Toronto has a way of having the cold linger. However, I refuse to wear a hat and gloves until November. The cold doesn’t really both me anyways. Though I cannot wait until its t-shirt and shorts weather.

This weekend a political party I am a member of will be announcing their new leader, I have already voted so waiting to see the new leader. Incidentially of the four candidates three are women and I voted for two of them in the 1st and 2nd ranking of my ballot.

We’re taking a road trip to visit TeenSparrow’s college! She’s excited to tour the campus and scout out the surrounding areas. It should be a lot of fun.

I think tomorrow night we should do something really fun as a family. Maybe a movie, or some mini golf. Heck, even throwing something on the grill and busting out Mario Kart.

Firstly, welcome to Oppositelock! You now have commenting privs. :)

That sounds like a fun and relaxing Friday night. It’s hard to pass up good grilled food and Mario Kart! I hope TeenSparrow enjoys her college too!

I . . . spent the entire day running a training course, which means I basically did the equivalent of performing in a 7 hour long one woman play. For the third day running. I’m exhausted.

After finishing that, I spent a couple emails and several phone calls arguing with the Ops Director about the fact that I can’t lead a project without basic information like where the fuck I’m supposed to be and when I’m supposed to be there, and I can’t convert powerpoint to pdf on my phone, and I can’t sit down and answer a bunch of emails when I’m on my feet talking at people for seven hours straight.

Proofs of The Book are sitting on the kitchen table waiting to be looked at.

A stack of exams is sitting on the coffee table waiting to be marked.

I’M TIRED. AND MY FEET HURT.

Congrats on getting a convertible! Years ago I helped my dad find a Sebring convertible, and instead of accepting a finder’s fee I told him I wanted occasional driving privileges. I was hooked on top down driving pretty quick. It didn’t matter that it was a slow boat, it was just fun. Years later I bought my Miata and never looked back.

This weekend is the annual pub crawl, an event that I celebrated in my twenties but mostly just tolerate now that I’m in my thirties. I can’t drink like I used to.

I’ve actually never had a makeover before.

The makeup techs at Sephora give them with a $50 purchase now, I think :-)

Agh, I see you commented to me, but when I click on the notification it just takes me to the title. Blegh.

It’s okay! I did some dismissing in the thread. Probably best for an open thread not to have content like that anyway. Besides, anyone who makes a comment like that in a room full of women and finishes it with “I’m not looking for a debate” ought to know what’s about to happen.

I didn’t know that this was a “thing” of theirs for open threads. Thanks for the heads up! <3

And shhhhhhhhh...don’t give me a reason to see what I could look like with a makeover!
