Just look at that 504 Dangel pickup... Mmmmmmm like a French 80's Toyota pickup. I wants it.

Kinja'd!!!

Yummy.

If anyone knows where I can pick up a reasonably priced >25-year-old Lada Niva I’m beginning to seriously consider shopping one of those too...

Kinja'd!!!

It just looks like fun!

Have a cute lamb for no good reason.

Kinja'd!!!

yeah the 2wd ones are pretty cheap and plentiful, but the Dangel 4x4s are hard to justify... quite collectible at this point :(

Hmm, €600 it practically throw-away money... Probably cost that much to ship it. Looks like it’s got lots of surface rust, how do they hold up structurally?

I wouldn’t be able to tell you. All I know is that the body work is rust prone as the ones I’ve seen frequently had visible rust. It’s a late 70s car built until today, but apparently still with 1970s rust protection. Also, here in Germany they’re frequently used as snow plows.

If they stand up to use as snow plows, the underlying structure must be pretty stout. The UK Niva Club’s buying guide seems to indicate that they rust most dangerously at the rear hatch hinges and base of the windshield. The rockers and rear of the front fenders are common areas too, but those are both apparently easy to repair, as is the hatch floor except that it’s where the tow-hitch receiver attaches and repairs must be cut back to clean metal if you plan on using the hitch... that yellow and red one for 700 looks awfully tempting....

Sadly they aren’t all that common, especially 25+ years old. If you manage to find one somewhat close to me in Germany (or the Netherlands) I might be able to help.

The red and yellow one is in Italy. My Italian doesn’t really go past pizza and macaroni.

There’s a couple <2000 euro ones in Spain, that also appear to be largely rust-free... I have a friend who lives in Sicily (Palermo, and no, she’s not in the Cosa Nostra) but sadly neither she nor her boyfriend are car people.... The few for sale in the Northern countries seem to demand double or more the price of the southern ones...
