I miss Chicago and my girl. We’d still be together, like we were for 4 years, if I wasn’t forced to move to Florida. She still loves me but it won’t work long distance, parents get in the way and all that shit. It was so much easier seeing her in person at school and especially since we had EVERY class together and lived in the same neighborhood. Now I’m hundreds of miles away from her and my home. It’s not the same anymore and this song, being the last that was hot and the very last song I heard on my last day in Chicago, with all my friends from day 1 and my girl with me, all chill but pissed at the way things had to turn out, always takes me back to the good times and that last moment I held her. This song always makes me feel like it’s all good and we’re still all there, at that one park in the middle of all our houses, living life to it’s best. And when the song finishes and reality sets in, I become the most depressed person in every universe. I miss Chicago, my girl, my bros, my school and everything.

Sorry to hear that. Because of divorces, I bounced around a lot when I was young (1970s), including stints in three successively cheaper houses in Oak Park before finally moving to VA to live with my dad. I don’t need to tell you that pulling up stakes sucks. But these things aren’t necessarily forever, and things that were meant to be have a way of working out in the long run. Try to make the best of your new situation, keep your old connections as much as possible, and just see where the future takes you. Good luck.

Damn, that’s hard. And yeah, I know, but it’s just that this was so sudden and essentially ruined my middle school and high school years to come, I’m doing one year at this current school then moving AGAIN somewhere else in FL with more new people and that whole headache again. So yeah, it’s more or less fucked while they’re mostly all good over there in school with the same people from day 1— all except me. This song brings back the good memories, then reminds me how fucked I am.

Sometimes we have to make choices - love, family, career, home town, etc.
When everything is going right, those choices aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive.
There is no shame in changing careers if you are unhappy because you miss a loved one, miss your family, and miss your home.

Well hell, if only I was able to do things in my own. In case if you didn’t know,I’m only 15 but my life is more fucked up than the average 15 year old’s. I don’t think it helps that my parents are also sick with cancers and all this other bs, and a whole nother part to this problem that’ll take too long to explain. Let me just put it this way: you can’t always trust family.

I feel you dude. I moved to Canada yesterday. I’ve moved for the 4th time in the last 5 years (3 different countries). I miss having a stable group of friends and hate having to figure my life out over and over.

I didn’t know. With that in mind, we can attribute some of the melancholy to you being young. It seems cliche, but it’s true (I have a couple of teenagers of my own). T here are lots of things to learn in life and many of them relate to how things change as you age. What was really important to you just a few years ago is childish now. What is important to you now will seem childish to you in a few years. Most of us have very little contact with our buds from high school, so don’t put too much importance on those friendships. It’s very rare for someone to marry their high school sweetheart (and the ones I know who did wish they hadn’t), so despite your yearning for a particular girl, just know she is growing and learning and changing just as you are. She’s probably not the same girl you remember any more.
I came from a really messed up situation myself, but a positive attitude, a willingness to work hard, and a little luck put me in a good situation. Remember that most successful people lived through and learned from adversity.

So far, I’ve moved about 18 times and lived in 12 different towns/cities in four different states. Once you find a life partner, it gets easier. The last four moves were with my wife and family.

I’ll keep moving to chase down the work and make the decent paychecks until we can finally afford to buy our “forever” home and the land to go with it. My best friend is my wife, so I get to see her every day (when I’m not traveling for work). My kids and their/our activities fill the rest of my time. As for other friends, I see my best buddy once or twice a year (he lives in another state) and anyone else is little more than an acquaintance. I just don’t have time to go hang out with other people.
