Good luck to you driving through 5 inches of snow this morning. Going 35 on the freeway while everyone around you is managing 60+? Godspeed sir.

5 inches of snow, everyone doing 60+mph.

Then people wonder why they end up in the ditch or in the back of another vehicle.

Good on the Nissan for driving safely in those conditions, surprising for someone from Texas (no offense).

In fairness, the highway was plowed and salted very well. Surface streets were still a crap shoot.

Your post made it sound as though there was 5 inches on the road.

To which it would be no surprise people were trying to do 60mph, happens every snowstorm around here.

Many years ago I happened to be in New Hampshire, somewhere near Vermont, with enough snow on the unplowed highway that my lowered MX-3 on all seasons was dragging it’s belly.

So I’m putting along on this abandoned highway, carving a trench in the fresh snow in what is probably the right lane when I am passed by 4 or 5 SUV’s, all seemingly traveling together, all driving way too fast. I said something to my passenger along the lines of “we’ll be seeing them again soon.”

A while later we approach that same group of suv’s, scattered across the highway, all crashed into one another. Some on the median and guradrail, some in the left lane, some in the right. Former drivers all standing around watching, slackjawed, as the little lowered Mazda weaves between their crumpled trucks as if they were cones in a slalom.

Sorry, can’t stop... Need to keep momentum.

Proud day for my little Mazda and I.

He was just savoring the experience, since he’ll probably never see snow again.
