Took the day off today for some car chores. One of those included taking the Evo to a local body shop to see what it would take to get the structure damage fixed and get it back on the road. The shop I dropped it at was owned by a older guy. Most of the cars in it belonged to him and his son. They included a Ferrari 308, Lotus Europa and Elise, two classic Vettes, an E-Type on a rotisserie, a Baja Bug, a 64 Mustang, several Spec Miata and one ChumpCar BMW. I think I found the right people to work on the Evo. Fingers crossed.

Is this the one you were going to decide to use as a track-only car? Now you’re getting it repaired to be street legal again? Good on you if so....not many of these around and sometimes cars have a very sentimental connection. :)

He said they were a lot of fun and sympathized with my wanting to save it.

I am certainly up for being more adventurous with it. My wife now has her own DD and I have the Cooper S, so we can look into having fun with the Evo.

I never went hard over for track day useage. It was an avenue to investigate. Ultimately I want it street legal for whatever I do. It just makes things easier.

I’ve always wanted to do something like Targa New Foundland and this would be perfect.

I really need to call up my local body shop to see if they have a little time to look over my Legacy and quote me a price on how much it would cost to:

- fill in the dent in the A-pillar from the deer
- bang out the FR fender because I sucked at that
- patch up the RL quarter because it’s rusting into nothingness

I want to have it painted correctly as well, which is the primary reason why I haven’t done it. If it was a single tone of paint I’d have done a bondo job on it at the first sign of rust and coated it, but no - Outbacks came with two tone paint.

Maybe I’m wasting too much time and effort on a car I don’t exactly like.

Targa Newfoundland? You would only be an 11 hour drive, 7 hour ferry ride, and another 5 hour drive from me in Nova Scotia! Come visit! :P
