Then again I’ve never used a carpenter’s bubble level to check my camber either. Pretty sure I can eyeball it as well as what either would tell me.

Unrelated but links being eaten by Kinjazilla seems to have been resolved. This is maybe my third post in a row without having to jump through hoops and repost and pray.

Will only work during repair procedures if you check the measurement beforehand but that assumes it’s correct to begin with. You need to have the wheel off to check which means the suspension is unloaded which means any measurement taken with this won’t be in spec. Because it’s just a bubble, it’s not even that accurate. The other thing is that camber, caster, and toe are a triangle. Meaning you move one, the relationship with both of the others is affected. This tool completely ignores caster and toe. It’ll work in a pinch, but I wouldn’t trust it long-term.

They’re usually not garbage, but they’re also not a precision instrument. You wouldn’t want it to replace your alignment guy and his rack for setting up a car, but they’re not the worst thing to have in your track box of tools. Same with an old-school toe bar. After an incident on (or as you are leaving the racing surface) that bends or breaks running gear, they can let you get your alignment back into the general ballpark to play for the rest of the weekend.

I think they’re mostly fixed? They’ve been displaying fine for me lately too, but they still disappear when I visit a post through a comment permalink. I can’t see the embedded link unless I load the page through the headline or thumbnail.

Buy an angle finder with a round face, something about having a linear scale for an angular quantity makes me cringe. Something like this will do.
