I was lucky to see this band perform in Seattle (twice, 2016 and 2017.) They’re basically a tamer Linkin Park (R.I.P. Chester Bennington - they were also planning on doing a tour with them, but...), and a few of their songs made their way to a Rurouni Kenshin movie series and a Honda advert featuring Hideaki Anno (known for creating Neon Genesis Evangelion.)

A couple years ago I was walking through a park in Brisbane, Australia and saw a line of people waiting to enter a little amphitheatre. I asked a gentleman what band was playing, the three younger girls with him answered “5 Seconds of Summer!” as if they’re the best thing ever. I mentioned I’d never heard of them, the gentleman responded with “Well, you’re too old and male so that’s not surprising.”
I’ve never heard their music until clicking on this post, now I completely understand what he meant.
