Oppo reviews are great because there are no hard and fast rules. And I’m not going to suggest there should be. Three criteria I like that have not been on some recent reviews and just as a reminder to other oppos let me encourage:

- steering - handling is one thing; steering is another. What’s the wheel tell you as you drive; where is your car between air cooles manual rack 911 and video game?

- audio - choose between stereo or the more important soundtrack making the vroom vroom noises.

- gearbox - don’t skip it just cause you got an auto!

Another wild card option:

- practicality - if wagons are going to get 100, which they should; let’s tive credit where due

My 1 min 996 Oppo review having not driven my car in 3 months:

Exterior 8 parshh with egg lamps

Interior 7 90s/00s parshh

Speed 8 slightly maimed parshh

Handling 9 parshh!

Steering 9 parshh!

Gearbox 8 parshh but with crack cable end

Audio 8 parshhh with 1/2 an exhaust

Value 10 free parshh

Toys 7 parshh top goes down

Practicality 5 child and wife fits in parshh

79/100; I freaking love it, can’t wait to get it out; should be able to this weekend

Everything else was included, but I’ll add what I missed here-

Steering 9/10

My Miata has an assisted hydraulic rack, there is no dead zone on center, full lock left to right is very short (shorter than the available manual rack) every single groove on road is transmitted to the wheel. Heavy for an assisted rack, but never burdensome. Best thing I can compare it to is a time attack unlimited prepped Evo VII (sorry, only Porsche I’ve driven is a early 2000's boxter, which wasn’t great in the steering feels department).

Practicality 6/10

I’ve remodeled an entire condo, and the better part of two houses using the Miata as a home depot runner. It’s infinitely more practical than a two seat coupe due to unlimited space in the upwards direction. Remove a seat and you can fit a fridge (not recommended though). Can hold four 15x8/205's track wheels/tires without a rack or trailer, can handle two weeks of camping/adventuring solo, or about four days with two people. I eat more in a day than the average American family of 4 and have never had any issue fitting groceries inside. There is no *legal* way to fit more than two people, road noise and super high highway RPM’s make highway cruising a bit of a chore. Harnesses and fixed back buckets push this well out of practicality for the average driver.

I’m probably gonna do a review of my Interceptor this summer once I’ve had a chance to get the tires replaced and driven out to Moses Lake. Oh, and with a GoPro mounted.
