The housing market may be insane, but other than that I find very little to complain about with Washington. Story inside, sad Miata spotted today for your time

Ah yes, the “duct tape my broken ass rear window so water doesn’t get in” fix.

As a former duct taped window owner, I will just say this. Water will ALWAYS fine a way in

Washington State is lucky to have mostly sensible politics and an excellent public service.

And that is why you can never duct tape anything shut.

Hooray for consumer protection. Let’s see if it holds.

HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAHAHAHAHA *inhales* HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA.

Dude. They just passed a bill that’s going to the Govvy’s desk that basically exempts the Legislature from the Public Records Act...basically they want to keep their skeletons in the fucking closet.

90% of the people calling the Governor and the Legislature are against the bill. This is going to piss off a lot of people.

Even so, comparitely speaking most of the politicking in Washington State has been fairly decent. Great roads, high wages, leading the charge in accepting everyone (both legally and in spirit) and basically giving the middle finger to the more rediculous things coming out of the federal government.

Fingers crossed. They seem to fight pretty hard for these types of things. Being “the voice of reason” makes the inevitable tax hikes more bearable I guess

This is mainly because of the anti-logrolling provision in the Washington State Constitution. Our Legislature is forbidden from passing bills that provide incentives to individuals or factions to vote for it.

There are a lot of reasons behind the state’s overall political leanings and dealings.

I’ve always been a fan of Alaska’s logrolling myself

Heh. +1 for that.

Regardless, I don’t like the fact that the Legislature is trying to be less transparent, and they aren’t even realizing just how stupid they’re making themselves look.

That is definitely the notable recent exception.

Even if Inslee signs it, this will get held up and likely overturned in the courts.

If Inslee signs it, he’s losing the next election.

Other than housing, sometimes weather, traffic/drivers, sometimes the old locals, sometimes the transplants, it is a pretty good place. The continued significant population growth in light of those issues speaks volumes. Who needs a low cost low amenity red state to be happy?

Alaska has good drivers. They’re courteous to pedestrians, quick to lend a hand, not crazy 30mph over in the city speeders, but not left lane hogs either. But.... They have about enough people to fill up Kenmore so...

Other than that I just assume drivers are awful everywhere from my limited experiences. Population growth sucks for many reasons, but what are you going to do about it?

Alaska has no traffic, low population density, and a fairly homogeneous population, yeah. Drivers are awful most everywhere in Murka, but WA is special. The passive-aggressive local demeanor hits the road here, and with license testing now being privatized, I can’t say I think it will get better. Rarely much pressure to speed anyway, so there’s that.

You were thinking about heading out, right? I think that’s all one can do about it.
