Got a call back about the A/C on the new fiesta. Only a plug came undone. I think I’ll go buy myself a loto ticket

That IS good news! Every time I’ve inquired about having auto a/c repaired I see the dollar signs in their eyes and end up leaving, still sweating. Also, they always say it’s hard to diagnose so we’ll just have to replace everything to be sure. Yeah, no thanks.

my fears exactly. I feel like A/C is the kryptonite for a lot of mechanics so they just replace everything. I was expected at least a 1k bill for at least replacing the compressor

Years ago I had an 03 Civic which must have been made late on a Friday. One winter day the hot/cold selector stopped responding and stuck on cold. I took lots of stuff apart and was about to give up when, with my head stuck up the driver’s footwell I spotted a loose connector. I plugged it together (snapping like they forgot at the factory) et voila, Heat!
