A little less than a year and 25000 miles later, I still think it’s about a perfect DD for me. The tradition had been for me to get a car when I got a promotion or a new job, looks like that is about to end. I plan to spend some time in the next week or so before my new job starts writing an oppo review.

The E9x platform is amazing in my opinion. The M3 is just perfect in all of the right ways. Hang onto them, I see them being collectible in the future.

Wasn’t planning to get rid of either of them, probably going to hang on to the M3 for as long as I can. There really isn’t anything out there that does it for me like the M3 does. I’d have to get something like a 997 turbo to think about getting rid of it, and I can’t afford that.

That’s a lot of miles!

Yeah, didn’t want to rack up that kind of mileage on the M3, that was the main reason I got it.

Smart. We put 25k per year on my wife’s car (the family trip mobile). I’ve put around half that per year on my car.

N52? N54/N55?
I miss my E90 328i xDrive but i couldn’t keep up with the expensive repairs. I got so spoiled driving that thing, especially that heavenly steering feel. Such a good all round car.

It’s a 2009 328i, so N52.
It’s been good apart from the coil on cylinder 4.

Enough tempting me to buy an M-sport front bumper!!

I put that many miles on my Miata two years in a row. And that was with a 15 mile round trip commute. Just lots of trips and driving for fun.

Sadly I don’t make oil money anymore.

I hear ya, that’s why I had to get another DD after I picked up the 997. I’ve put 12k on the allroad since I bought it in July, and 7600 on the 997 since I bought it about a year ago.
Before that I put 27k miles on the GSW TDI in 18 months before selling it back to VW, and before that I put 72k on my MK6 Golf R in exactly three years.

I’ve been feeling down lately, and the weather has sucked here. Today it was high 50's and sunny, I felt great after the gym and went on a drive. It was fantastic, and now I’m ready to spend like $2k making the 335i even more fun lol.

BRB, headed back to oil.
I do actually have a job offer to go back to oil right now.

There is something about walking up to your car and loving the way it looks.

Yeah but I’ve followed your posts and you’ve got some big choices ahead, just focus on being happy again. There will be enough money I’m sure.

I would love to be back in oil, not even for the money but because I enjoyed it.
I thought about it, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be single for the rest of my life if I take this oil job. I really want to find happiness, which is why I was looking for a new job in the first place.

That’s awesome. We put that much on my wife’s car (our family/trip mobile).

Its funny though that I think I will end up driving fewer miles with a longer commute. Since I already do so much driving now with like 80 miles round trip and its all on fun canyon roads, I dont see the point in driving much on the weekend. And with two cars now as well, it really keeps the mileage low.

That is funny. Pretty sweet to get in your enjoyable driving during the work week!

Well that is while I am home I suppose. This is like week 4 of being away on work travel. It is kind of like I dont really remember what it is like to be home at this point. It is nice having a sub 10 minute commute again though. Although being stuck with whatever rental is kind of crappy. At least I can pick so as to avoid getting a damn Versa.

Damn, you also drive a lot. I wouldn’t want to put those kind of miles on a 997 either. Also, having something like a 997 or M3 as a second car really, at least in my opinion, makes it more special. Cause you want to be in it, you’re not behind the wheel because you have to be behind the wheel.
