X-rays negative, nothing broken! Keeping the streak alive, never broken a bone. PT starts immediately, and I’ve got a boot.
It’s a lot more swollen and bruised than the pic shows. Still pissed it happened, but it turned out about as good as possible all things considered.

Thankfully, no broken bones. I really thought there would be. Take care!

had a bad ankle sprain from a motorcycle accident years ago. One of the slowest healing injuries I ever had...slowest was the thumb sprain from the same mishap. Here’s hoping you have different results.

one of my kids left a toy at the bottom of the stairs. I was carrying our 1 y/o, didn’t see the toy, rolled my ankle , yelled things and said anything left of the floor is being burned in the firepit in 15 minutes. Damn that floor was clean.

As soon as you can start working range of motion. I sprained mine really badly back in the fall and I’m only now really getting back to 100%. (Mine looked like I had half a softball under my skin)

if I may... boot is terrible for your back. I landed my motorcycle on my ankle this summer. 600 lbs on an ankle.
I went to a doctor when my toes started turning green. I knew nothing was broken, but my wife didnt’t accept that. So I went. Was told there was nothing broken and toes were green because of blood circulating weirdly but it was all ok. He suggested the boot....
I said if I am in the boot on one leg, I am standing crooked. hurts back. He said yes. Most people dont realize it and said when doctors suggest two boots to deal with it, they dont want it.
If you are going to wear a boot, wear two. sure. less comfortable and you get sideways looks from people impressed that you can walk with two broken legs, but your back will thank you in few months after

Get a walker. When your ankle’s messed up, life is so much better with a walker.

I have a little bit of advice from when I broke my foot two years ago. Not the same as an ankle but it relates. I broke three bones, the longer one behind my big toe clean through, t-fracture the one beside it, and cracked the next one. Doctors required me to cast it (air cast boot). I’ve had casts before, but I’ve always had bad joints. And anytime I cast ANYTHING it screws up my demobilized joints for months after the cast comes off. I begged to just fully tape and stay off it. No dice. Used cast as instructed, hurt badly, stayed swollen for a long time, affected sleep, and then when it finally came off my ankle, toe joints, and even knee were all exactly as screwed up as I knew they’d be. Had to regiment some pretty diligent physio to get range of motion back. And still had to tape my foot to make it bear weight. For weeks.
So, my recommendation for your swollen and injured, but not broken ankle is to not cast it, or wear special footwear. But learn how to tape it with sports tape (or even just good waterproof bandaging tape). You’ll still protect the joint and tissue, but you’ll also still be able to use your foot and work the swelling and bruising out. One of the guys at work a year ago rolled his ankle pretty good (bruising similar to yours, just significantly less) and I taped it up for him. He went back to work with a slight limp and was mostly fine after a two day weekend. I stopped getting casts for minor breaks in my hands as a teenager, and just went to tape, worked just as well without all the troubles.

Nice. When I rolled mine, I ended up with those bruises plus bruises that looked like they traced the ligaments going up to the calf. I’m a huge klutz.

I rolled mine badly on October 22nd last year. I couldn’t run for more than a month, had crutches for a week and it was awoken for maybe three months.
I recommend physio as early as you can :)
