!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Any car, new or used, 20 year/200k warranty.

I read the whole thing twice, and I can’t think that they’ll do anything but regret this.

A GT350 with a 20 year/200k warranty sounds awesome.

Or a Focus RS, because they can’t even survive a year without the engine going, apparently.

I’d go buy a crewcab F150 and never look back.

Oh yeah, or a Raptor essentially guaranteed for 200k miles? I wish I was buying a car right now

Germain’s Lexus dealership has the same offer going.

Yeah, it seems to be all their Columbus dealers except Honda and Toyota for some reason.

I didn’t see a Honda or Toyota listed as a Germain dealer. Just ford, Lexus, Mazda and Nissan.

But why not a Viper?

They know about the whole F-150 cam phaser thing right?

What they aren’t telling you is that it has a $1000 deductible. Which sadly would still make sense to have on a F150.

*edit*

After looking at it again, at the top is says:

“EVERY new and preowned vehicle”

but at the bottom it says:

“some vehicles may not apply”

Well which is it? This crap should be illegal. “It will be sunny all day long tomorrow, except some parts of the day were it will rain”

Yeah even $1000 is nothing over 200k miles. How many people would pay that to guarantee the drivetrain for that long? How many would pay double or triple that? Plus it covers suspension pieces too!

Aluminum truck with guaranteed powertrain for 200k in the snow belt. Sounds almost too good to be true...

The some may not apply has to be stuff like the GT350, Raptor and RS. They’d lose their shirts on those

Yeah, those are the only ones doing the 20/200k offer. It’s just weird that they’re doing Lexus but not Toyota

I remember hearing something about the can phaser in a car listed on Kijiji, but not being familiar with it, didn’t know much about it. What was the issue?

No, these things have a deductible. Each time you use the warranty, just like your insurance, you have to cover the first $1000 (for example) out of pocket. So if you went in for a leaking oil pan, and it’s only $400 to replace it, the warranty doesn’t even kick in. If the engine blows up and costs $5k to replace, the warranty company is only going to cover $4k of it. And it’s per failure. If you take it into have that oil pan replaced ($400) AND a water pump for ($900) on the same visit (total of $1300). Your deductible has to be met twice, so they wouldn’t pay for any of it in that example.

Similar to early vanos system if you know about that.

There’s a solenoid that controls oil pressure to a phaser mounted on the intake camshaft. The phasers have two pieces, the internal piece has external helical splines, and the external piece has internal helical splines. Camshaft gear is mounted to the external pieces, oil pressure on the seals rotates the two pieces relative to each other via the splines, causing the timing gear to move either retarding or advancing the valve timing. At least that’s my understanding of how it works.

When the seals fail it doesn’t work right and you get a tick or knocking sound

None of those, either, but if that yellow mustang convertible Ecoboost had been a stick....

Interesting. So along with that tick or knocking sound, I’m guessing that means reduced fuel economy as well as potential future oil leaks?

Yup,and usually power somewhere in the rev range depending on how it’s set up.

At a FCA dealer, no less. (Ignore the Harley signage, that’s next door.)
