My old college roommate, who lives in western Virginia near Harrisonburg, sent me these. He spotted this VW pickup outside an auction house. I’m guessing this guy has a really messy lot somewhere with some very interesting relics parked on it. Apparently, he DDs this beauty.

Plus a bonus VW Fox wagon that he spotted at the local post office. I’m guessing it’s a 89, since it has the rear shoulder belts. I had an 88, and drove the hell out of it. I loved that car, and would love to have another. Mine was blue.

Fancy Fox wagon, what with your passenger side mirror and all.. My 90 didn’t come with one, until I found a wagon at the wrecker..

Mine did. And the AC worked until the bitter end, though the vents in the dash were hopelessly warped from the Houston heat. That 2D wagon was just the perfect form factor. I moved my whole life from VA to TX in that car for grad school.

I also had all four original wheel covers when I got rid of it in 2001 (bought an 01 Golf).

Mine (belonged to an ex-girlfriend technically) had an instrument cluster swapped from an auto into the 4spd - the gearing was off so it was super optimistic.. 120kmph in forth gear felt so stable, but all those other cars were crazy..

I ended up doing most of the work on it (r&r alternator and rad) after arguing with the local town mechanic that it wasn’t an Audi..

Me; uhm, no - it’s right outside, VW. Big circle two letters. Made in Brazil..
