That’s from about two weeks ago. I know which session of the day too as I have a passenger which is rare. His name is Richard. Richard came over to me two weeks before that photo asking about the roll bar in my car as he also has a white convertible Corvette and wants to get into tracking his car. This was at Laguna Seca. He just drove down from San Jose because he wanted to see what a track day was like even though he couldn’t take his car out due to lack of roll over protection. He just came to watch and learn.
Richard is 70 years old and has never been on a racetrack before. However he looked like he could kick my ass. So I suggested he come back in two weeks and I’ll bring a helmet and he can ride along and feel the experience and see if he’s up for it as it can be quite a beating.
So that’s Richard. He came out for two sessions including me spinning off the track.
He’s hooked.

I once found a picture of one of the products my family buisness makes in a softcore porn picture once.

What is “Crossfire” a reference to?

That’s an excellent question and belies the fact that he guessed the year of the car wrong. Not that the body style had changed, so it’s not a real miss. The 80's hashtag made me laugh not because it’s wrong but it’s because it’s the most 80's car I’ve ever seen — but not made in the 80's. The push button dash is hilarious.
Corvettes went from carbs mixing the gas and air and hoping for the best to a bonkers fuel injection system known as the crossfire which uses lasers to time the firing of spark plugs or some such shit known as the “optispark” which is really sensitive to water (so naturally it’s under the water pump — so you have live time status on any leaks). That system evolved a little more and my car has a laughable “modern” fuel injection system being a later yeared 1992 based off of it. It’s pretty damn impressively obscure, that crossfire reference. The person posting from that account knows their shit.

The Crossfire used throttle body injection. If you take the air cleaner off you can literally see the fuel being sprayed in. Kinda neat. As far as I know the Optispark was only an LT1 thing while the L98 and L83 still had a good ole distributor.
But the Crossfire was only on the 1984, which was pre-facelift and there wasn’t even a convertible available yet. If he actually knew about the Crossfire then he should have also known about the TPI and that it was available for the majority of the life of the C4, even if you subtract the 2 years without a convertible. In fact it’s worse than if you had a C6 and he made a LS2 reference. So I’m hoping it’s a reference to something else, otherwise he’s just one of those people repeating things they’ve heard.
