Pictures of the new Peugeot 508 have been leaked. Do you like how it looks?

Contrary to most cars, this one will be shorter and lower than its predecessor. It will be wider though.

I prefer my Peugeot 50* with a trunk and RWD :)

I prefer them with engines that haven’t been co-designed by BMW and that will run for half a million km when maintained. Add a good manual gearbox, not too much weight and an excellent chassis. Basically everything Peugeot from ~2010 wasn’t. RWD would be a nice bonus, but that’s not going to happen.

I guess we both prefer the philosophy of the Peugeots we currently own...

Agreed, but I’m not a fan of those fang-like DRLs though.

Ye’, the fangs are a little much.

It’s also the split in the lights from the headlight and the bumper.

The fangs are a bit much. However, I’m thinking they might take a while to get used to. I initially had the same with the Talisman and Megane fangs, but now I sort of like them.

It looks really good, way better than the current 508. Also, I can definitely see this with an Opel nose and tail, to become the new Insignia in a few years time! (We need to call those Peugopels from now on, haha)

Also, it seems to have no windowframes, which is a unique-ish feature for this segment!

Well the 1.6THP in the 208 is rather nice :)
But even though I like the little GTI, it could be better.
For one, the shifter response could be better

Looking at it a bit better, I think the 504 Coupe might have been a bit of inspiration, which definitely isn’t a bad thing! The general grille/headlight shape, and the number badge on the nose are main giveaways, as well as the black part at the rear of the side windows.

My 406 doesn’t have window frames either tough. But that’s a coupe.

That rear 3/4 reminds of the Dodge Charger, and Peugeot has been killing lately with their interiors

The rear door will look pretty silly with the window down and the door open. I can’t see how that tiny window could go down with the larger one without extremely complicated mechanism.

Why? While the old 508, like all other cars in this segment, isn’t the success its predecessors were, I still see them quite often. Even here in Germany where most cars are German or German-ish (Skoda, Mini, ...).

I think it looks good, but too “youthful” for a big Pug—they’ve always been a bit more conservative and restrained, emphasizing their size with their styling. This, though, isn’t immediately recognizable as a big car from first glance, not like the 604 and 605 were and even the 405 and 406; were I not reading closer I would think this is a Corolla/Golf segment sedan/hatch. I’d love to see more photos though, especially with segment competitors to get a better idea—it looks better than a Mondeo, that’s for sure! And that iCockpit is a masterpiece no matter what car it crops up in; Peugeot has to be up there with Volvo in revolutionizing modern interior design.

Peugeot has been absolutely killing it with interiors recently. The exterior is OK. I like the frameless windows, but other than that is just reminds me a lot of a VW CC. Not bad, but not exciting. They’ve done a good job pushing the front door hinge back from the front wheel arch, but the front deck still screams front-wheel drive. I do really like the connected glass on the sunroof model - copied from Tesla, but a feature that I’d like to see more of.

I like it. I wonder what are the different trims for the black or chrome window surrounds? I usually prefer black, but I like the chrome on dark blue.

Im actually quite curious to what it competes against? Fusion(mondeo)? 3 series? 5 series?

Body seems a little boring except for the taillights. But the interior looks great.

Peugeot states: Audi A5. That’s probably a bit optimistic, even if the car is up to par (which I don’t know) the conservative demographic shopping at Audi isn’t likely to pick a brand that isn’t ‘luxury’, especially one that isn’t German.

You’re right, the Arteon is the most fitting competitor. Probably halfway between that and the (euro) Passat. I’d pick one over both VW too.

Took me a while to understand what you were pointing out here but once the HQ images came out I really see what you mean—there’s an uncanny familial resemblance that’s not entirely quantifiable but definitely there between this 508 and the venerable ‘04 Coupe.

Rear: yes.
Interior: YES!
Front: nope. That front overhang is huge and those fangs don’t help.

Seriously though, I really like what PSA are doing with their interiors.

I can’t see them bringing Opel to the US in the coming years, as GM and PSA probably made arrangements about that during the sale of Opel/Vauxhal l, as they currently share too much with Buick. PSA is looking to get into the US market, but I’m guessing they might do that with either Peugeot or Citroën.

The Insignia was probably the last one to do that, as GM sold Opel, any shared models will die at the end of their model cycle, and will be replaced by models developed within both companies.
