It’s 4:30AM and I can’t get back to sleep. I guess 5 hours will have to get me through today. An interesting note: Landing for my connection in Denmark, the first car I saw was a Tesla Model S. Scandinavian countries, you have a funny obsession with Teslas. In unrelated news, first time on a Bombardier Q400 and Luxair served half decent sandwiches on a short 1.5 hour flight.

Continuing with stream of consciousness - not really sure what to do with my Lancer Ralliart. I’ve been dailying the Miata but I still have a need for a 4 door. Things about the Ralliart have been bothering me lately though - the seating position is weird, I fear the TC-SST, and I just don’t love it the same way I used to. But if I replace it, I probably won’t drive the replacement much either.

Oh, and my airBNB smells like stale cigarettes despite being a non-smoking rental.

I like flying on Q400s. Landing is aways fun with the prop pitch changing.

Last time I flew on one of those i was with a co-worker, with a huge fear of flying. I learned that some search engines have a box for “no propeller planes” and she was pissed that she forgot to select. I ask for the windpw seat spent all takeoff starring out only to look at her and see she has a death grip on armrests.

But...how can you be jetlagged when the Q400 has turbines and not jets (jokingly ignoring the fact they’re sort of the same thing :P)...? :O

Hah, I actually liked it. Better than the ATR 72 I took from Dublin to Glasgow and worlds better than the A350 I had from SF to Copenhagen.

I can understand how someone would want to avoid prop planes (they look a bit sketchy). In reality, I would take one of them over an A350 any day.

I’ve never flown these, but the DeHavilland Dash 8 is still one of my favorites. Sure, the exposed props are fairly loud (the newer scimitar? blades are better, though), but man — that visibility! And decent space. It’s still a jet, too. I’ll give up that extra 100mph if I don’t need it, the experience is worth it.

If you’re fearful on these because they’re “small planes,” you’re crazy. Being able to see everything sure beats being stuck in the aisle, over the wing, of almost anything else.

To this day, my short flight on Luxair from FCO to LUX is one of my best flying experiences ever.

At the time it had been my first (short) trip to Italy, and when I returned home a week later, I was not kidding when I told people that the best bottle of wine I had while in Italy was on my Luxair flight, sitting on the tarmac, waiting to depart Rome.

I fly these all the time on Horizon around the PNW. They are quick for a prop.

Hah, the A340 that I was cramped into for the first 11 hours took care of that :)

Apparently it was actually an A340. The seating arrangement sucked. It was budget-domestic style legroom for 10.5 hours.

Alaska Airlines fly’s the Q400 out of my local Airport (STS) up and Down the West Coast. I love flying on them, my wife is not a big fan but too bad for her. Plus free beer!
