As you all know (I’m positive), my 931 has no carpet and it’s just the floor pan. What exactly can I paint/coat it with that’s durable/ chip resistant, waterproof, and bought in-store?? Once whatever coating I determine is the best is in the car, I’m just gonna put some floormats in and call it a day.

Flex Seal? Or something that’s similarly rubbery?

Rhinolining?

Maybe one of the DIY bed liners?
![]() 02/18/2018 at 21:29 |

Some sort of epoxy coating which is essentially bed-liner, its the opposite of add lightness though.

Flex Seal seriously doesn’t work as advertised, does it??

weld nails, sharp side pointing upwards, every inch of the floorpan

Very scratchy

I’m not putting any carpet back in, so I can afford to gain some lbs. Any particular brands?

I don’t know much about them.

Flex seal liquid would probably do what your looking for since it’s literally just rubber, but your probably better off with bedliner as flex seal costs an arm and a leg

I’m a big fan of tile. Some people insist on natural slate, but I find ceramic looks just as good for a fraction of the cost.

Tim did a write-up on adding Lizard Skin to the inside of his Land Cruiser. It’s not a bedliner, but a spray-in insulation and noise reducer. You’d have to ask him for more info:

Yup...I was going to suggest some sort of bed liner as well. No chance of salvaging a carpet from a local salvage yard, is there? Do 944 carpets fit the 931...?

I’d just go with truck bed liner, durable, relatively easy to clean, won’t draw attention.
Alternatively, bright orange shag carpet would be cool, too.

Possibly?

Scratchy?

That’s right! Unfortunately, we don’t know how it’ll hold up and I’ll need to get this done before summer, so it’s all dependent on timing.

I’ve heard most the DIY versions are inferior to the professional stuff but the one I’ve linked below at least comes in cool colors.

I can’t imagine why 944 carpets wouldn’t fit. Problem is that I can’t find any and I start scraping out the old sound deadening material in the front. It’s a PITA so I’m not even gonna bother with the rears.

Any particular bed liners you recommend? Are they applied by spray or brush?

Buffsuki would be the only girl I’d be able to get in this car for a date, hell no.

It’s literally just rubber, it sounds pretty good actually. Do you know how it’d compare to bedliner?

Pebblecrete!

There might be some long-term reviews online, I haven’t looked into it. Bedliner would help to reduce the NVH transmission and if you don’t want the bro-dozer look on your floor some two-part epoxy paint would work well. I think a few have already suggested the latter two options.

Here’s a link to one of the manufacturers. I’ve used it in a truck I used to own. You apply it with a roller.
As someone else mentioned it has a rough texture. It’s meant to be rough to reduce the chance of things moving around in the bed.

I feel more inclined towards the two-part epoxy paint. I’ll look for that.

Great to see you putting your heart and mind into your projects! Looking forward to reading about them on the road.

This one looks good. I like that it isn’t sprayed and brushed or rolled in.

I prefer Josuki

wait you played DDLC to its completion right?
![]() 02/18/2018 at 22:04 |

Nope. I just did one playthrough without the DLC, just so I could finally see all the DDLC shitposts and memes and understand them. So I’ve beaten it, but not a 100% completion.
![]() 02/18/2018 at 22:12 |

Yes, but won’t hold up to the repeated water and gravel assault. You need to think practicality here.
![]() 02/18/2018 at 22:13 |

Could work, or maybe terrazzo, but I think only in an Italian car.

This is cool. I am saving this for future use.
![]() 02/18/2018 at 22:44 |

Typically it would be sprayed on, I’m not sure of any particular brand I’d recommend to do at-home - I’m sure some google could help, it’s a pretty common thing.
![]() 02/18/2018 at 23:10 |

Probably not, but I was just thinking of something that`s rubbery. Bedliner might be a bit too rough.
![]() 02/18/2018 at 23:21 |

I’m gonna go with the Durabak liner. It seems like it’s gonna be the best bet for me.
![]() 02/18/2018 at 23:42 |
|
ok so you’ll understand this one
![]() 02/18/2018 at 23:43 |
|
Since it’s basically just rubber it’s toughness would come from how thicc/ amount of coats. Doesn’t matter as it’s like $10 for a quart retail for some Reason

Oh yes, yes I do.

Some restorers use dry ice. It shrinks the seal and breaks the bond with the metal, making it very easy to scrape off afterward.
I have never used it and I suppose handling dry ice is no joke either, so take this piece of advice with a pinch of salt.

I used it in my Jeep instead of carpet. Wore well for two years before I sold it.

I lined my truck bed with herculiner. It’s pretty rough to the touch. That said, I got the recommendation from another opportunity who used it to line the interior of his Jeep. Hold on, link pending
