Cool pics, I assume the cars and bikes were new or fairly so at the time. Interesting to see the stone guards and rocker trim on the 56 Chevy - I think more cars have them now than did then. 58 Pontiac is a Star Chief, probably rarer today than a Bonneville.

Cherish him while you can. Both of my grandfathers died before I was old enough to really know them. :(

They were always a couple years old, he typically bought them from the body shops he worked at for a long time.

Back in the day when it was simpler and less risky to repair damaged cars, that was probably a good way to go.

Your grandpa reminds me of my dad, who would have been 80 in April. He also had a 58 (and 60) Pontiac, was into motorcycles back in the day, and I definitely got into cars via his interests. He didn’t have me until he was 40, and wasn’t into being sentimental, so I don’t know of many pics of his old cars or bikes. We often had an old car in the family when I was growing up - he was into old Fords, being around that can influence a person a lot.

I am the only car guy in the family ... alas. Relatives that work for GM and Fiat Chrysler (so I could get a discount if I ever needed a car, which I won’t) but they’re legal and numbers guys.
