Chicago Oppo Meet (Date Finalized!) [UPDATED!!]

Due to a conflict I forgot about, the date will be March 24! Now to decide where to meet.

My initial thoughts were perhaps Gateway Classic Cars in Crete or Volo Auto Museum in Volo. If you know of any other place like that, feel free to suggest it!

Update: I also found a place called !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! which seems fairly interesting, downside is that it’s $21/person and it appears that tickets must be purchased ahead of time.

VOLO!!!! OMG! It’s cheap and unforgettable. Plus it’s nearby a highway so if we want to do another activity or head west out to some more “open” roads, we can.

For me, it would be super awesome to be on the west side of the city, since I’ve got a 5+ hour drive in from the east if I come (which I’m gonna try to do).

I refuse to go to Volo. I took my 72 Oldsmobile there once to display for a car show, which brought in people. Then they had the nerve to charge the people who brought their show cars to get in and see other cars for sale.

Klairmont is meh. It’s an old industrial building owned by an old dude who made his money in real estate filled with cars he bought and is now selling. It’s definitely not worth $21 per person as there really isn’t much of a display for the cars and barely enough room to walk around most of them. My dad inquired about a few and they basically wanted to see money up front so they don’t spend time digging the cars out of storage.

I havent been to Gateway or Chicago vintage motor carriages, but CVMC gets my vote.

I’d be OK with any of those, although it looks like 1 or 2 people have said the Klairmont isn’t that impressive. Any idea how big Gateway’s inventory is in Crete? If it’s small, may not be worth it.

K1 is an indoor kart racing facility.

Every time I’ve gone to lake forest sports cars, they’ve been totally Ok with you walking around and taking a look.

I’ve never been to one either, so I don’t know. I think at least some of the other meets have done something like that.

Not sure it’s totally necessary unless there’s something you need an accurate headcount for - and also maybe for people to advise if they’re running late or last minute cancellations.
