The cars! Let’s start an appreciation thread. Why do we love what we drive?

Let me start off with this fat cruiser. It’s Negan’s “Lucille” compared to Michonne’s Katana. It may only have the lowest of the I6 engines BMW offered at the time, but it is the most powerful car I ever owned, so it does feel fast TO ME. And it sings! Revving that thing never gets old.

I bought it as an Autobahn stormer since I moved to an island in the Baltic Sea a couple of years ago, but my parents (who aren’t getting any younger) live near Munich in southern Germany. A 960 km journey I have to do regularly.

It took me a while to find a one-owner, BMW service history example with most of the specs I wanted.

- Carbon Black paint

- Full M-Sport package

- Shadow Line

- comfort seats OOOOoooh, I just love them. Perfect for a guy of my height.

- Pano roof. I know that they get a lot of flack from enthusiasts who complain about added weight where you don’t want it, complexity, water leaks.... It’s just nice to have while it works.

I bought it to make these long treks on the Autobahn less tedious, and it does just that. Instead of being worn down on arrival, I feel sad that I can’t drive it any further.

It’s a saloon on wheels and it fucking looks the part! Now show me all the hate for Chris Bangle/or your wheels and why you love them.

Base WRX, only options are the STI catback and the full Kicker upgrade with the sub - everything you want but nothing you don’t. I’ve driven “quiet” cars my whole life - wanted something loud. My “other” better half loves we get waves from all the other WRX folks. Look at those sexy blue hips....

My FoST hauls ass, it hauls the mail, it hauls groceries, and it does it all while costing the same as a Honda Civic and not much more than a barebones Nissan Sentra.

Oh and she rips sweet handbrake drifts in the snow.

While I’m annoyed by it for various reasons(it’s uncomfortable, it’s loud(my fault), it’s flimsy, it eats brakes, it doesn’t look special, the flywheel is too heavy, it needs better cooling, etc.), it makes me smile every time I mash the pedal or turn the wheel. It really makes me happy every time I drive it the way it’s meant to, and that’s why I love it. It does make me lust for something comfortable and quiet though.

Bluetec - modern yet traditional, smooth yet has some nice mechanical feedback, efficient, comfortable, unusual spec, a very nice but not ostentatious car:

Fintail - it’s the fintail, I have some kind of mojo with the car, and every drive is a pleasure (pic taken last weekend):

I don’t mind the E60/61 from the sides. Not the front or back or inside :)

Because its a treat everytime I get in and start the engine. Especially now that ive sorted out all the squeaks and rattles, I just cant stop going for random rides without any sort of destination.

I seriously considered just getting a manual Fit, to match my wife’s automatic one. But now going from my car to her’s I’m very glad I dint get one.

However my wallet would be MUCH happier if I had bought a second gen Fit.
