As much as I love Renault, I hate what they did to legendary names in the late 00s/early 10s. The Floride shouldn’t be a trim level of the Megane, and a Gordini shouldn’t just be an RS with some stripes.
Luckily they seem to be going the right way now, with the new Alpine. I hope they do a Floride convertible based on the Alpine chassis.

If you think about the context, though, the modern Megane convertible is the Floride/Caravelle of the day since the original was based on the Dauphine, the compact economy car of the time. Just because the Megane isn’t quite as interesting in layout doesn’t mean it doesn’t accurately convey the spirit of its ancestor!

I understand where you are going, and I partially agree. However, in that case they should have just called it the Floride/Caravelle from the beginning, and not introduce it as a trim level, which literally just existed of a bit of paint and leather .
If they’d call the Megane IV convertible Floride or Caravelle from the start, I would be perfectly fine with that.
sm70- why not Duesenberg?

Ah, I didn’t realize it was as half-assed as that—yeah, that seems a bit awkward. Shame as the last Megane ‘vert had a rather elegant rump IMO—more than a little bit Pinin influenced though it was an in-house design IIRC
