Fair enough ... in this town, most of the Maybachs I’ve seen are owned by hotels. If you’re rich, you ride in a Bentley or the new Town Car, or perhaps an S-Class. If you’re rich and smart, you get driven around in a Lexus LS600hL.

Stayed at a high end place in Dallas back in 2004 (business, someone else’s dime) and they had a few drivers for the guests. I needed to hit a CVS, so a guy drove me in an S Class. Ever since I’ve thought - what more do you need? I know the 57 and 62 are more than gussied-up Benz, but I always found the wheels awful, the two-tone paint pretentious, and the badge an oddity - few gearheads even knew where it came from.

That said, if one pulled up to take me to JFK, I’d probably change my tune.
