I didn’t take pictures of a whole lot of things we’ve all seen numerous times, but here are the photos I did take....

Not the prettiest color, by far, but I still love the GT-R.

Lambo Urus is surprisingly good looking

of the 12, or so, vehicles in the supercar area, this is the one I’d want. Others not pictured are a few Lambo’s and way too many Bentleys.

Some Stinger GTs. I really like them, much to the dismay of my buddy.

Pretty sweet mirrors!

Track Hawk, pretty solid, nice interior.

Mercedes bait!

A pair of amazing Buicks. The only two Buicks at the show I’d want.

It looks like both Nissan and BMW stole Mitsubishi’s burnt rotor orange. I love that color that you hate.

If I’m being 100% honest, it’s not like there’s a whole that’s too different from last year, but there are some very interesting cars that aren’t there every year. I don’t think you’d be disappointed.

Um yeah, it’s amazing.

Me neither. I missed their press conference but it must’ve been to reveal it because they were the only things on the ‘stage.’ Subaru, on the other hand, had 6 or 7 cars, covered, on their ‘stage.’ I’m guessing they’re just revealing the 2019 lineup. Left before their presser.

I kind of liked it. It’s a bit long and over aggressive, but it’s Lamborghini. That’s what they do.

I like the profile view - other than the wheel arches. The greenhouse shape is very attractive.

I saw a number of cars that had cameras that were way too prominent. Can’t recall specifically right now but it was a recurring theme.

I go to the show every year, but this was my first time on media day. Quite the breath of fresh air! Plus some of the cars that will be roped off/locked starting Saturday were more accessible today.

I did too, on most cars I didn’t give it much thought but on something like the Urus, I’d expect the cams to be more well hidden.

The profile made me take a step back and give a longer look, but I do like it. What about the arches? Too prominent? The sharp angles?

Yep - it’s the angles. I just don’t think it works to have angles over a round opening, at all.

Speaking of which, did you check out the Lexus LS500H? I like it, but some of the interior design choices were... odd...

Yeah, overall, I like the car, but the details in the photo I added were weird. For what it’s worth, the Lexus rep told us that those details were part of the Executive Seating package, not standard.

The RX350 is odd looking (and my wife just got one) - the RX350L is just a little bit *more* weird looking. I can’t think of a single “L” model from any manufacturer that doesn’t look like an afterthought though.

Yeah, this was just random for me - a friend of mine is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, and they had a luncheon there today, with the president of VWoA as speaker. So he invited me and another friend for that, and to walk the show after. Pretty cool - hopefully he invites us again next year!

Ah, see I didn’t talk to anyone at Lexus really, I think the only people I really had a conversation with were the Audi reps. Lexus design has certainly taken a turn for the weird, but I don’t really mind it. Come to think of it, the Urus at a quick glance could be misconstrued as a Lexus Performance RX Prototype. Maybe. If you squint.

I’d say that the Audi A8L or BMW 750iL seem to pull it off the best.

Yeah, I was with 2 friends, one of whom is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago- - he brought us to the luncheon there, we’re not in media at all. After lunch, we just wandered around the floor checking everything out. The Lexus rep was pretty friendly, so we ended up talking to her a bit, plus I was (politely) trying to find out what the hell was going on with those door panels.

Agree on the A8L and 750iL - though I still don’t think they look anywhere near as nice as their SWB counterparts.

That’s awesome. It really is so much better on the preview days. For future reference, it’s super easy to get the preview passes. As in, almost too easy.

I agree on the SWB looking better.
