Canadian on the internet: “That seems perfectly reasonable.”
But seriously, I dig the new RA. Commenters complaining about interior quality, the “lack” of power, and the cost are being armchair experts as usual. Just like me, an armchair expert.
Aw yeah, that’s the stuff.

$60k for am STi seems reasonable. It like how Ford dealers were selling FoRS’s for $60k when they first came out.

Yeah, $57k for a Focus was pretty absurd. Granted, it was a pretty sweet Focus.

If it’s anything like the MY18 WRX, a lot of the cosmetic parts (bumpers, wing, skits) can be ordered through the dealer and fitted to any MY15+ chassis. Barring bespoke items like bilstein dampers or the carbon roof, you could as easily make your own. But I love the RA and TS nonetheless!

I like it, except for the wing. The standard wing looks much better, this one looks like the $200 ebay wing you buy and bolt to your civic trunk lid. It’s just so tiny. With oddly central mounts and small uprights... Too bad they didn’t go with a time attack style wing for some real crazy down force. Also a bit surprised that they didn’t change front aero... Even with the Damper upgrades that seems like a missed opportunity assuming the wing really does add as much downforce as they say.
Oh, uh.... And “MORE POWER” (Subaru comment requirement fulfilled)

Would they still have the warranty? And how much would they cost on their own? At that point, might as well go for the full package.

This wing is adjustable, I don’t think the regular wing is.

Yeah but those are Canadian dollars. Imagine that number was 63,000 and get back to me

Yeah, I think they said it had two positions? I’m just surprised they didn’t add a more aggressive splitter or canards in front to balance out the upgraded aero in back

Honestly? For a track car, seems reasonable to me.

Make it a hatch. Then we’ll talk.
I’m looking at you, Subaru.

But is it 16 Grand better than the 47 Grand version? It’s not even a track version is just a slightly better version.

Good, because I can’t make it a hatch. I’m pretty sure you don’t want me working on anything engineering related.
Next generation model should be coming out in 2020. I’m pumped.

I’d argue for the upgrades you get and that it’s all covered under warranty, that yes, it’s $16 grand better if that’s what you’re interested in. But that’s like every car. Is the GT350 worth the nearly $30k over the GT? Is it really worth buying a Hellcat over a regular SRT Charger or Challenger? That’s entirely up to the buyer. And if I was doing autocross or track days and had the extra money, then yeah, I think it’d be worth it.

Just remember that auto x and track days invalidate that warranty, in which case...why not get the cheaper one and buy real track parts with the difference? Like i said, its not a track special, ita not even (aside from the roof and a slightly different 3rd gear) special.
A 350 has a different engine and wheels and tires and seat and a host of real improvements.
Ditto hellcat.
This is just mild tuning and some carbon

Nah, there are some great subi tuners out there with off the shelf kits that would wreck this ra

I suppose you feel the same for muscle cars and other high performance machines? Why buy the one from the factory when you can just buy a lower trim one and build it better yourself?

I’d argue that you could get a 335i or 340i or whatever pretty close for the same price.

Any takers on how much dealer markup will be?
“This RA has nitrogen filled tires. But not just any nitrogen. It’s Japanese nitrogen which is better than that stuff shoddy dealers add. That’ll be an extra $15,000 ok?”

I don’t see why not. Changing bumpers is a matter of a few clips.

Hold my beer.
It starts at €97k in the Netherlands. That’s $120k US and $150k CAN. For one (1) WRX STI. Without options.
That €97k consists of about €40k for the car, €8k VAT and €49k emissions/fuel guzzler tax.
They don’t sell many, if at all.
