OK. Here we go. If you had a $20,000.00 materials budget to buy a car of Craigslist and outfit it for post nuclear warfare, what would you do? Lets keep labour rates out of it.

Show your work! Enjoy this Sprite with machine guns.

I mean, as a Canadian, there aren’t really any weapons available to mount on a vehicle.

I’ll probably just die in a nuclear apocalypse, so no worries about what I’d need to drive after.

Killdozer, the answer is always Killdozer .

Kinja'd!!!

As long as you don’t high-center on the interstate, it’s pretty much unstoppable.

As Canadians, the best we can do is a hunting rifle tied to a Miata.

Rifle holder on a motorcycle sounds better.

Jeep for the big stuff, and a grom or two for lighter work.

Some kind of 2500-series 4wd pickup with a rail conversion

Just convert an 80s wagon/light or medium duty truck to run on wood gas. Sure you’re going to have to chop down trees, but by the time you’ve got the whole thing going, you’ll have heat and fuel. Tweak it to have a range for you to cook your food on (whatever that may be) and it’s the all in one survival solution.

Buy an M35 cargo truck for $5k since it can drink almost anything flammable for fuel, spend $5k armor plating the thing, then spend the rest on weapons and ammo

Ford Super Duty (or Econoline/E-#50 heavy duty van or ambulance, or even a smaller RV, or possibly an Econoline with the 4WD conversion, but all the same basic vehicle) with the last 7.3L International-made PowerStroke diesel. If the truck, then preferably an ex-military one so I don’t have to paint it myself, but it is what it is. I’d rather have a newer one, but the 7.3L has the odd honor to be well-suited for this thought exercise: fairly common, stupendously reliable, takes modification well, can be made to run on propane, natural gas, and/or waste vegetable oil, in the event diesel is somehow unavailable, and it doesn’t need DEF. It’s tough enough to take a beating, and the aforementioned modifications can make it pretty quick, though not necessarily fast. You can add weight to it like armor and attack/defense fittings with little problem, since it was designed for it. Plus many newer parts are backwards-compatible, so if I find an abandoned EarthRoamer or something I can scavenge some sweet upgrade parts for it.

I’m pretty sure Maine was almost part of Canada at one point

The French wanted half, the British wanted the other. The British had more guns.

At least, I think that’s how it went.

Maine would have been part of Massachusetts had it not been for some geniuses in Boston having screwed up big time. They couldn’t afford to keep Maine so they just went independent and begged for statehood in 1820.

Probably be most anything carbed, 4x4 in good shape with an awesome BBQ setup. Better to make friends with the wasteland goons than fight them. My plan would always to be an asset to someone.
