Trying to figure out if the persistent oil smell and drippy drips in the Jag is from oil blowing out the unbaffled valve cover through the breather so I grabbed a breather hose off of a GMT400 that had decided to go for a swim and slapped it on and dunked it in an empty red bull container ziptied to the firewall to a wiring harness tiedown. We shall see how that goes.
Behold a rare sight: no warning lights since my handbrake sensor randomly fixed itself.

Is that a PCV or an open breather? If it’s a PCV that won’t work - it needs vacuum on one side. If it’s a regular breather, it should be open to atmosphere (and the vacuum port sealed off) in the first place.

The tachometer and speedometer being two completely different styles makes my inner OCD start to scream.
It may not be entirely factory styled, but I do greatly prefer the styling of the Autogage on the right. The text is much more readable at a quick glance due to its wideness.

That is an open breather.

I wish I could find a speedo with the same style but autometer doesn’t appear to make one, which is super frustrating.

Oof, yeah don’t hook that up to the engine, will effectively be a large vacuum leak and will also puke oil into the intake more than a PCV would. Is there a PCV on the other valve cover? You’ll want to just get a vent for this side.

...that’s what this setup is isn’t it? There’s a PCV valve on the other valve cover and this is an open (in this case) catch can.

This side should be pulling air into the engine, it goes through the crankcase and out the PCV valve into the intake - a catch can here won’t (well, shouldn’t) catch much, if anything. You’d want a catch can in line with the PCV.

I did a little link diving and found their custom configurator. Unfortunately it’s Flash, but I made it work, and mocked up something really quick using it.
Even after the mockup it’s looking a little crowded.
For reference:
Font: Ultra Lite, yellow. Ticking style: normal, white. Retainer: flat black (mostly to see on the Flash page.) Pointer: standard needle, white, with flat black hub (in reality it’s probably black, but again, Flash is obnoxious.)

Nice! Is that an electric speedo? I wonder how horrifically expensive that is... My speedometer is broken and I’m looking to convert to an electronic one.

It’s about $400 for the custom kit, but that was the 3-something gauges. I also found a few other packages after dealing with the inane excuse of their website - the GT series has a bit more of a modern British flair to it, but is far away from what you have right now. The Z-Series gauges have a closer match to the stock Jag gauges. The ES series has a selection I personally like. However, despite the speedo going to 160mph (bang on the money for your current gauge,) the tachometer goes all the way to 10k RPM. Maybe it’s worth giving them a call for an 8k version?
