I mean this as non-morbidly as possible, but I hope he fell in head first.
On another note, while I’m not saying it was user error, 4 days into a job people likely hold for years does not bode well for a wrongful death lawsuit.

Dude had a 3yo daughter, too. I imagine they’ve already gotten a call from OSHA.

It’s mandatory to contact OSHA for any on the job fatality.

In some weirdly goth sense of the word, I hope some small part of him lives on in playground mulch, protecting kids from harm.
Brb, working on screenplay.

Yikes. That’s awful.
The family’s attorney sounds very eager to find somebody to sue. Do they have any reason to suspect that there was actual negligence (or foul play)?
What if -(not to speak ill of the dead or anything)- but what if the guy just made a dumbass mistake, ignoring proper safety procedures? He was a newbie there, after all. Is it the plant’s responsibility to make everything 100% childproof?

What you want to bet that the lawyer sought out the family when news broke of this?

I was going to make a joke, but damn this is just really sad.

He was not as lucky as this extremely unlucky guy was: http://seattle.cbslocal.com/2014/01/30/washington-man-survives-going-through-wood-chipper/
I suspect safety protocol was not being followed by one or more people at the shredder, people get lax, then serious shit happens.
