Supercharged and turbocharged engine in a smallish hatchback that gave a proper fight to the Mini Cooper S
Shamefully it became a single turbo hatch after the update. Now the Up GTi is best GTi

Hugely unreliable and only available with a DSG, right? The facelift 1.8 TSI is a lot better all around, and the new generation should be decent as well (very expensive though).

But it was an interesting engine! Never heard of unreliability issues here at least. It was only available with a DSG...yes. but it was its only downside.
The current polo is a killer car too, don’t get me wrong!

I didn’t even know VW made any other GTIs apart from the Golf and Scirocco.
Are you talking about the new Polo GT G40 instead?
For reference, here’s a photo of it from a new car magazine.

The new generation is basically a MkV Golf GTI with its 2.0 TSI engine and yugee base price.

The Polo GTi was the best GTi of this decade until the Up GTi came along
Only if you’ve spend this decade in a VAG vacuum. Ford, Renault and Peugeot have offered multiple better cars this decade. More reliable too. Even Opel (GM at that time) has. Furthermore, the Polo was only available with an automatic transmission, which is an automatic disqualifier for a hot hatch.

Three gti models that I know of, golf, polo, and up

What’s the Up?

Hmm, certainly. I’d rather have a FiST than either the mini or the polo.
But I think the polo is way nicer looking...

Its a micro car with 100HP and an exclamation point on its name.

Ah, the G40. I pity the fool who has to deal with the G-Lader supercharger.

It’s a new car so I don’t know much about its reliability track record.
Can you fill me in?

GTi is Peugeot, Volkswagen is GTI

Ford, Renault and Peugeot have definitely offered better Polo GTI rivals, although when it comes to the base car, I prefer the VW equivalent.
Plus if you go a size up, the Golf GTI (available with a manual) puts up a much better fight. The new one is a good few insurance groups lower than its rivals too!

Having been through your profile, I am now on the floor laughing, damnit. Have some stars.

Timing chain stretching issues in the whole 1.4 twincharged range. Not sure whether they were recalled.

Hmm, stretched chain? How odd.
But I guess it makes sense, some light research shows those issues.
Only reason I didn’t get crazy about the Polo twin charged was because
A. I couldn’t afford it (nor need it)
B. I thought manuals were my friends back then
C. I didn’t have the nerve to ask my parents for one because I was 16 when it came out here.

Wow, that’s more power than the Rabbit GTI. In a microcar!
Where can I buy this Up dude?

Not in north America

But the new VW Fox came to America a couple of months ago, I’m sure it’s similar.

There’s two ups
The Brazilian one (the one we get from Mexico down)
The european one (the one sold in, you guessed it, europe) that has the 100hp engine.
You could buy a small plot of land in Baja California, buy an Up new in France or Spain, ship it to Mexico and legally import it as a EU 0km car paying a yuge tax on it but running it legally here.
Then run it grey in the US; having it six months a year out and literally hidden the rest of the time.
Pay a huge insurance premium (in pesos) and cross to Mexico every year or so to have it smog checked.
I don’t know the whole ordeal for certain, but that’s what I know.
