Well I got off at noon and went north to my friend’s garage, he got it at 8:30 this morning from the trucker. We drove it around the back streets, it’s insane! Actually a very comfortable smooth ride. It is a lot of fun with the windshield down. It will be painted and some little issues addressed, lots of old lights, we will probably get some of the older lights mounted and then make them work at some point. Stuff to do, it was pretty fun just for a few minutes.

I don’t know if a vehicle could be more manual than that.

Well the engine and carb are rebuilt so that is actually not an issue at all, very well.

Seriously, I think a Snake River 4X4 power steering kit is going to happen, it’s going to be very hard to park this anywhere useful. We drove it around with the windshield down, so much fun, the seat prop you up pretty high to the doorline so you feel like you are up on this huge crazy machine. You can’t see the fenders when you drive it, I had to lean out to see where the hell they were in tight spots. Smooth ride though, very nice, way better than I thought. I ran over a curb and barely felt it.

It’s insane, this guy walking on the road we drove it on gave us a funny look.

Oh and apparently you can start them with a crank from the front like and old airplane. I don’t have the handle...

Is that a battery kill switch in the middle of the seat there? I have a switch just like that in my ‘61 Ford that disconnects all power.

I basically use it as my “key” in that I leave the key in it at all times and just flip that switch off.

Awesome rig, congrats. It really does make my ‘61 look like it has a lot of features - although I don’t have a “HEAT” knob in my cab!

Yeah the battery is under the seat, it’s a pretty typical M37 mod. That heater never came on these, the heater with an arctic package was actually mounted on the fender. I have no idea what that came out of. There is a newly painted, baby blue, Ford close in age to yours for sale down the street. I want it too!

I’m not going to do it, I have seen Leno go through the procedure so he doesn’t shatter a bone.

Interesting. Upon closer inspection, it looks like you have the same kind of valve near the back of the cylinder head that would block coolant flow to the heater. Unless that’s something else entirely.

I added a control inside my cab (an old choke cable, attached to a heater control valve from a ‘72) because a valve on the intake a manifold was all I had. However, it’s still always hot in the cab.

I look forward to more updates on this. Maybe a video of it running, driving? I love it. Did I mention that already lol.
