Having a lab test done and I have to be fasting. Arrived an hour early in hopes they could fit me in only to find out they are running an hour behind. Haven’t eaten since 11 pm last night. The clinic is too far to drive home so I guess I’ll just take a nap.
They’re seeing me early!

I was rushed in for “emergency” surgery on a Saturday. They decided it wasn’t such an emergency, but to make sure I was ready to go on a moment’s notice, they fed me nothing but ice chips and popsicles. They finally got around to doing the surgery the following
Thursday. I didn’t get to eat until Friday.
You will survive.

You were on a liquid diet for like 5 days? I would be homicidal.

Technically, six. Things were getting weird on Friday and my doc told me to stop eating Friday night so they could run some tests Saturday morning.
But hey! FREE POPSICLES!!

I got to fill up on barium. Now I’m not hungry.

Did you do the shake or did you take it as a liquid ? I tried the shake when I have my first CT. I nearly lost the shake before I got it all down. From that day forward, I drank the liquid an hour before the scan. It looks like water, but it doesn’t taste like water.

Oh man, barium sucks . A trick I learned after my first barium shake (it only takes one) is to essentially kill your mouth with some mouthwash before you drink it. Gargle for about 5 minutes until your mouth is pretty much completely burning or numb. Then chug the “milkshake” as fast as you can.

Most people don’t know that you can get it as a liquid instead of a shake. It’s much easier to chug a glass of barium water than it is to down a milkshake. When I have to do it, I try to get the people around me to start yelling, “Chug! Chug! Chug!”

Man, NPO sucks ass. I usually being some Nutrigrain bars to scarf down as soon as my appointment is over. It’s not just the stomach growling, it’s how tired I end up feeling.

I did bring food, but I was so full of barium that I wasn’t hungry.

Kind of like thick milk. It actually want that bad. It was better than the Fizzy Lifting Drink they gave me to inflate my stomach.

It actually wasn’t that bad. They also had me take three gulps in a row, drink some through a straw, etc. all to see how things are going down.

Here’s something on point to pass the time.

I feel your pain. Had my wisdom teeth pulled last Friday at noon, had to stop eating at midnight Thurs/Friday. Since the surgery, it’s been soft food diet. I gave up coffee, cigarettes, and any solid food (applesauce and milkshakes just won’t fill me up, no matter how much I have) simultaneously. Between nicotine and caffeine detox, an impressive level of pain, and near constant hunger, this weekend was hell (I’m really a sissy, I know).
I risked pancakes at lunch today, drowned them in syrup and butter to get ‘em squishy. Feeling “full” for the first time in nearly a week is amazing.

The threading makes it hard to tell which statement you are questioning. I guess you’re wondering if I lost the shake after drinking it. The answer is I did not, but it was a close thing.

You told Ttyymmn he’d survive. I asking if
you

Oh. I thought you were replying to this:
“Did you do the shake or did you take it as a liquid? I tried the shake when I have my first CT. I nearly lost the shake before I got it all down. From that day forward, I drank the liquid an hour before the scan. It looks like water, but it doesn’t taste like water.”
We really need someone to fix Kinja’s threading. I can’t tell if I’m coming or going. Besides, Kinja ruins the jokes!

Add a little fiber to the mix. It doesn’t matter if it’s the soluble granules or just the pills. Either will help.

If I can get used to the current POTUS, I can get used to Kinja.
