After further thought, I’m only quitting tomorrow if this new place hires me and needs me by Monday. Otherwise, I’m giving a week notice. Not two, but not nothing either. They made me start with just two days notice for my last job, so they can handle it themselves, I think.

In any case, I’m overqualified for this job (considering it’s an entry-level job, it’s hard NOT to be) and they apparently need around 500 new employees because it’s a fairly new business. So... I hate getting ahead of myself, but I’m pretty sure I got this. Anything to get out of my current mess.

May I ask what this current mess is?

I deliver ladders. On the surface it’s alright, but they really screw over the drivers. They give us dangerously huge loads (my truck usually doubles in height and weight) and very little time to get it all off. I once took three days to deliver what was apparently a one-day job, even though it was over 25 hours of driving alone. I tried to come home the second night because I only brought enough medicine for one, and their response was basically just to tough it out. In the end, my dad voluntarily drove six hours to drop off my meds that night, but I really just wanted to quit then and there. They really don’t care about our physical well-being at all.

What’s the new job? Any paycheck is better than no paycheck so it sounds like you are making the right choice. As far as giving a week’s notice is concerned, I wouldn’t. Just tell them to “tough it out.”

Oh wow, that’s exploitation. There’s no other word for it.

It’s a warehouse job for an online thrift store. Mostly taking in new inventory and sending out the sold stuff. It’s apparently not very fast-paced, so it should be nowhere near as stressful as my current one.

Best of luck! Getting a new job can be stressful. Hope it all works out.
