I really like the car, other than  the typical ad that can’t be bothered to say which 351 it is, but $7k seems like a lot. Then again most of the prices that old cars are going for seem like a lot to me.

Likely to be a Cleveland, I think the only Windsor these had was the 302. And I think ‘71 is too early for a 351M.  but in either case I say NP all day long

You’re probably right about the price since it’s a convertible with A/C, but you never know about the engine since Ford did strange things with power trains   . My 72 Gran Torino had a two barrel 351W but the heavy duty C6 transmission. Why, I don’t know. That engine certainly didn’t have enough power to require it.

I would not be embarrassed to say I’d payed that amount for that car, but I’d prefer more like $5k. But I wouldn’t want a convertible.

You could have fixed that...

Saw this on barn finds. The money is pretty negligible.. I say NP. It’s a couple years of fun, then when you decide to change things up, you can resell at the price you paid.

Probably can get it a little below the ask, put tires on it and fix whatever small issues.  Would be a fun driver or ice cream car for weekends.

That was my first car and I was but a poor high schooler. It took most of my money to replace the blown 351W (with a 400 out of a station wagon). That car was a “you can have it if you can get it running" special.

I’d venture a guess that it was just due to either capacity issues at the transmission plants, or the assembly plant(s) for the LTD wanted to manage only a single automatic trans across all variants.  I don’t know any other reasons they’d have put a C6 behind that engine instead of a C4 or FMX.

Looks like the CL listing disappeared. My one and only girlfriend in high school -- she was 18 and I was barely 17 -- had one, a 71 I think. 351. I graduated in '82, so that was a long time ago.
