Yeah, I wish it would snow here instead of steady pouring rain and 10 degrees C.

We've currently got wind gusting up to 100 km/h. It's warm-ish (above freezing) but crazy windy.

Good enough, thanks . Vacation time’s been sporadic. Managed to get one big Christmas Dinner in with enough downtime.
Booze week’s been good too. You have any memorables?

The only notable things I’ve had so far were Dageraad’s 2018 Anno, and Gin & Juice. Both excellent. Still got their Dubbel Brune Kelderbier and 2017 Anno to try.

Geez, we had that last week. Or the week before, I’m not sure. It took out a section of the 100 year old pier in White Rock

It’s tricky to find the balance of distraction and confrontation. I haven’t found it yet, but I’ve gotten better at it.

Yeah, I saw that on the news. They rescued someone from the pier, didn't they?

Yup, had to bring a helicopter in from Victoria, because apparently that’s our nearest SAR helicopter....it was pretty impressive flying in that weather.

From an aerospace engineering perspective, I’ve always wondered if a 4-rotor aircraft (imagine a giant quadracopter) would be more stable in extreme weather like that.

I imagine it would be, which makes me wonder why it doesn’t exist. Probably the hassle of 4 engines, or 2 engines each driving two rotors, how all that would work with controlling it. Something like a double Osprey idea or a double Chinook idea.

I'm thinking more use a single or twin turbine to run a generator, then 4 huge brushless DC motors on each corner. Maybe too much weight?

Probably two for safety, but as long as there was no heavy battery system I feel like that should work. But I’m also not an aero engineer

Neither am I.
I imagine there may be quite a few losses going from a turbine to a generator to an electric motor. Still, it would be interesting to see.
