At 1:21 he is looking at passenger side hood latch. There is a release cable that goes to it with a blue collar. Then there is an electric wire of some sort that goes to the latch on top portion towards the interior of the car. What is that electrical thing? I broke it and I need to find a replacement but I have no idea what the name of it is to look for.

Sensor to say that the hood is open, throws an idiot light? My 2010 didn't have those so idk

That’s it. Odd place to put the sensor. I would have thought it would be a push button type that senses when hood is on it, not on a latch that may or may not be missing. anyway. That’s it. Thanks

Yeah. I did. All it came up with was the left hood catch. I guess it’s the hood open/close sensor which isn’t necessarily sold separately. Found whole shebang on ebay.

Do you have remote start? It could be an open hood indicator, which disables remote start.

I’ve always seen them as vertically oriented pressure switches, but I’ve never worked on a Mini

I have an aftermarket remote start. I doubt it has anything to do with it. It’s likely the hood open/closed sensor as some said and it was in fact under that description on ebay so ill go with that.

Yeah, if it’s aftermarket, it will definitely just be a pressure switch.

Nice to have anyway. I almost had an accident cause the stupid hood didn't latch, didn't have a sensor.

it’s a comin.... ordered the sensor and catch stuff all together. in case mine is damaged, ill have spare.
