I tried looking for a travelogue for my area of the country but to be honest Enid Blyton, Wainwright, etc... did many for where I live.
This one has some great pictures from post war Britain.
The posters were an easy one really.

You’re in Cumbria, right?
I have to say, it’s an amazing little book(let) . The railroads and canals becoming obsolete following the rise of the road network and the decline of coal mining and heavy industry strongly reminds me of the Liège and Charleroi areas over here. The area around Charleroi is called Pays Noir (Black Country), so I guess the parallels make sense.

Ye’, I’m in the furthest most point in the north of Cumbria.
It’s interest ing as it was the point that Britain was rebuilding post war and coming into the modern age of machinery and computers.
The Midlands is also called the Black Country for it’s mining and heavy industry.
