My 9 year old lad wanted a road train for Xmas. And his grandmother duly delivered. But...
This is a Highway Replicas 1:64 scale refrigerated freight Road Train with the optional dolly and trailer. It’s a limited edition build (440 of 1450). It’ s beautifully made. And priced accordingly. And he really really likes it...
But he also wants to play with it. And it just isn’t made that way - it’s mostly just for display . It even says so on the box. Not suitable for children under 14... he’s a little bit disappointed...but only a little bit!
I think it'll do some miles regardless...

Ah, play with it anyway. Gently.
If anything, it might teach him to take care of special things, something my boys haven’t quite figured out yet.

I used to love Johnny Lightnings
as a kid. I had no idea they were meant to be collected, not played with. I still have most of them, but they’re mainly trashed. Same story with the very high end, accurate model train set I was given.

Playing with it on this floor is hard as the mortar joints cause the trailer to unhitch from truck! Once his new bed room upstairs is done though...

Maybe a little clear tape on the hitches will keep it together? Nothing that can’t be undone.

True! And tried...but then the joint won’t rotate.

Yes he is. I'm his dad after all. But I too am a little bit jealous...

drill a tiny hole and then put a tiny cotter pin in it.
