This style of joke always screams “I am a bad comedian” to me

Carlisle pops up on a few programmes.
Stephen Fry on Qi referred to Carlisle being the sliding patio door to Hadrians Wall.
Sometimes it’s.
Carlisle, where men are men, and sometimes so are the women.
Carlisle, where the men are hard (strength) , but the women are harder.

It’s his kind of comedy. He goes for one liners but often they just aren’t good or the way he tells them is just off.

I've been to Carlisle. I can't argue it made an impression. Especially when Cockermouth is just down the road....;)

He's one of my favorite. Is that live at the apallo?

Yes, it is the Apollo.
He’s okay but he doesn’t have the timing for his sort of comedy.
And he keeps having to because he’s laughing at his own jokes.
Francis Stewart does it so much better.

Dude, living in the North over there is like living in the South over here. Comedians need cheap fodder. I think it’s one of the lowest forms of joke, very old fashioned.
Of course, you also have the Southwest to make fun of (eg: the entirety of Hot Fuzz).

To be fair we all take the pi55 out of different areas.
For us it’s the Scottish, North East England, the south of England and then areas within those areas such as brummies and yam-yams, scourers, mancunians, geordies, sand dancers, etc...
