Went car shopping with my mom today, we originally wanted to check out the Niro, the Ioniq and Prius. After seeing the Niro we drove by a Honda store and I turned in out of the blue as I remembered the Insight was a thing. Thankfully they had one right in the showroom and well...chances are it’s gonna be the next car for the parents. The Ioniq is a strong contender, and the Prius didnt even get a second look.

I would test drive it first. my parents were going to get one...then they drove it and HATED it. like with a PASSION. dad said he’d rather a Lada over one of them it was that bad.

So eCVT vs. DCT in the Niro is not a deal breaker?

yeah we were just window shopping for the most part, plus my mom sliced open her hand recently soooo no driving for about a week.

the fact I couldn’t find a Niro LX in the area, the dealer we went to weren’t all too helpful in trying to find one either. I’ll keep my eye out for it.

yea, apperently it drives like ass and the interior quality is lacking compared to a normal honda. and some nasty NVH from the motor as it has to work SO much harder as its so small

IKR, well Don’t take it for granted. My GTI was almost empty when I took delivery, didn’t even think to check.

The LX trim is pretty sparsely featured as I recall. EX has some decent safety and tech stuff.
We have an EX Niro and it’s no Honda when it comes to interior quality but it’s great with space. Very easy to get in and out, bigger cargo space in fact and I wouldn’t be surprised older people prefer it over a regular sedan hybrid. The Insight is faster to 60 by about a second though but the Niro is pretty peppy in the city in sport mode.

Let me rephrase that cause i don’t remember trim levels on the Niro, but the guy only had the base trims...and I couldnt find the mid level one in my area.

not to mention the tires were rather low. Thanks Autobarn of Chicago.

Are you talking about the last gen? What you described sounds like the last gen I tested. The current gen isn’t bad. My wife bought a 2019 for a commuter. I t’s leaps and bounds over previous gen. It's really just a hybrid Civic.
