My mother almost bought one of those in ‘91 ... But then ended up getting a CPO (off lease) Audi 100 Quattro, partly because of the AWD, partly because of the manual transmission. She eventually replaced the old ‘89 100 quattro (at nearly 4 00k miles) with a B5 S4. She owned that car until a spinal fusion surgery forced her to give up driving stick, at which point she bought a new Mazda 3 grand touring. I think she made the right choice, despite the mountains of money shoveled into keeping those Audis on the road.

Oh, I think that’s an ES Limited model, top of the line. AMC/Renault were aiming really high with this car, the idea was to get Jeep Cherokee and Grand Wagoneer buyers to purchase their sedans at the same place they bought their SUVs, instead of going over to the local Audi or BMW dealer.
